If we are not serious enough about honoring our word to defend Taiwan to station tac nukes on their soil, why should they trust our word and honor to defend them to the point of risking MAD with the CCP?
You believe Biden has honor? And, well, at this point our promise is more to return Taiwan to China. That is the honor of nearly every president since Nixon that Taiwan is China. So, if we want to follow honor of promises since 1970 and not get in the way of China acquiring its territory fully?

Or are you talking about someone elses honor than the last several presidents?
In other words the Federal government and Bureacratic classes govern via extortion and usurpation and no longer out of any loyalty to their home States.

Funny how Abe Lincoln was deformed after his head got kicked in by a horse when he was a kid and FDR was a drug addicted cripple

Man...Janet Reno, Richard the Third...FDR....Biden.

Noticing a pattern here?

Lol the man likely raped his own children. What honor?
I was not referring to Biden. I was referring to us as a country. And no Taiwan is not a part of China. They are their own country.

How?

No, seriously, what specific policies do we need to fix things and prevent the recurrence of the current status quo? Most of the 'America is Rome right before going from republic to empire' comparisons I've seen don't actually address any of the systematic problems, they just go 'we'll replace all our current stock of uselessly corrupt elected politicians with a strongman dictator and actually win our imperialistic wars with a change of military doctrine from attempting to prop up puppet regimes among the locals to simply killing them and stealing their natural resources'. The thing is, the current crop of parasites could survive just fine under such a system, if anything, they could take it as an advantage now that totalitarianism was closer to the overton window.
No idea on the specifics, but I can see the same broad pattern in history repeating itself with America.

Change is coming, but as to whether it's a good change, a "US has disintegrated" change, "US has balkanized" change, or a "hail Emperor XX, First of his Name of the American Empire" change? shrug Time will tell, but there's no way things are going to continue to limp along now; mostly thanks to the Democrats and social rot setting in, the US is tearing itself apart.

The guy who wrote Cyberpunk said it best, decades ago.

Let's be honest. I have no confidence in the current administration to handle any foreign relations competently.

Our squabbling is just what China wants. Indeed, they have been feeding it. Stoking these fires, supporting BLM and other groups to tear us apart. Just like the Soviet Union did.

And here....we....go.
They have to know that's not going to happen...

As long as Biden and his ilk are in control, we have no real honor as a nation.

Leaders were already betting on when he'd be removed from office, Germany dunked on us by going back to a completely paper voting system because of 'election security concerns regarding internet enabled machines', and now every nation has just seen that the US still has new lows it can sink to in terms of political competence and military planning/execution.

Only when the elite and establishment Biden has been a part of since before the fall of Saigon are humiliated and removed from power, if they ever are, will we start regaining our honor as a nation.

Because right now, if I was any nation who had US security guarantees in place, I'd be upping my demands and telling the US gov to put up or shut up on any outstanding agreements.

We are not a dependable ally or protector to anyone, anymore, and people just need to cursory knowledge of US history to know how many times we've broken our word on agreements with anyone and everyone.

You want our nation's honor back, figure out how to deal with the institutional rot, graft, and lies that have got us to this point.

Fighting China over Taiwan, including having our own reenactment of the cuban missile crisis, isn't worth it. It seems like it'd be easier, cheaper or at least, less likely to result in a firsthand demonstration of the fermi paradox, to simply treat rebuilding the Taiwanese microchip-manufacturing infrastructure in the deindustrialized American heartland as a matter of national security than to fight a nuclear war.

Honor? You've seen the status quo at work, they've got none and as far as they're concerned, plebeian belief in honor is just a trap to lure plebeians into being cannon fodder.

Yeah, never hear much from military people about reshoring the stuff in Taiwan, just keeping the status quo with them in perpetuity.

Because in the time it would take us to move that production, could cause us to have a large shortage should Taiwan be invaded. China would see we don't need them, and strike so they can support our building.

Then station fucking tac nukes in Taiwan, and show we are serious about their security as we are Turkey.
And that is asking for nuclear war. Like, Cuban missle crisis is nothing compared to the issue this would fucking be.

If we are not serious enough about Taiwan's defense to risk something like that, and force Xi to respond to us instead of the other way around, then I would not trust the US to honor it's defense pact, if I was Taiwan.

Not after what we have just witnessed in Kabul.

Either we treat Taiwan as an independent nation, worthy of a direct nuclear umbrella, or we admit we are only propping up Taiwan for the tech industry and stop the pretense of them being the remnant of the legit Chinese gov that fled under Chang Ki Shek.

So declare war against a country that would probably nuke us, and turn the world against us, well mainly thier allies, causing world War 3 to try and call a bluff and tell chins to fuck off?

That is like having China put Nukes on Puerto Rico

That you think defense of Taiwan won't end up with nukes coming out anyway is rather naive.

Particularly with the 'Japan Exception' that is now part of China's nuke policy.

Japan and Taiwan have a separate defense thing from us, and China has said they would nuke Japan twice to three times as much as we did if they assist Taiwan.

If things go loud about Taiwan, there is very, very little chance nukes do not come into play.
