Because doing that is technically invading foreign soil, and if China decalres war on the US, it shows we do not care for something and other countries join them, and then boom. World War 3You guys are expecting a war with China anyway before 2030, right?
And you all are so gung-ho to prove how tough and dependable the US is, despite history showing us to be unreliable allies at best and habitual treaty/agreement breakers at worst, why give China anymore time to prepare?
Put the nukes on Taiwanese soil, and dare China to do something before they want to, or stop bleating about how important Taiwan is and how sure you are we will defend it.
Either Taiwan is an independant nation worthy of direct nuclear umbrella assurances, as is seemingly the intented of our defense pact with them.Because doing that is technically invading foreign soil, and if China decalres war on the US, it shows we do not care for something and other countries join them, and then boom. Huh. Isn't that just convenient! The article said:Per the same uniformed personnel policy, ONI members cannot participate in partisan political activity or distribute partisan political literature. An internal ONI member told The Daily Wire that these policies were more relaxed under the Trump administration and recalled retired officers condemning the former President.
Haha, holy shit. Now the Harris-Biden administration has decided it's not enough to gag active duty servicemen who may have a thing or two to say about their ineptitude, but they have to silence the retirees too! Well, isn't it a good thing that we never ever heard any retired general criticize Trump 2016-2020...

And to think, not even Truman tried to shut MacArthur up after firing him.

We have no choice but to protect Taiwan. That is where the bulk of the micro chips that go in damn near everything come from. Taiwan is literally a strategic asset.
In short…you want the US to be like the Soviet Union during the Cuban Missile Crisis? I’m not being sarcastic here, I’m trying to understand your position.

When you give your word you try and keep your word. Honor is a thing after all.Eh, doing nothing is always an option. So is failure.
If we are not serious enough about honoring our word to defend Taiwan to station tac nukes on their soil, why should they trust our word and honor to defend them to the point of risking MAD with the CCP?When you give your word you try and keep your word. Honor is a thing after all.

The Federal Government gets around that by going "Oh, you don't want to do X? Well, I guess I'll just have to take this money Istolereceived through taxes on your citizens and not authorize it to be spent in your states on roads and other infrastructure." It's a soft power that no state has a defense against because they all got too used to the Federal government's money coming in, and now they can't budget for that.

This is just an astounding level of ignorance of domestic Chinese politics. Their leadership isn't beholden to the public in the same way ours is but there is no way going "meh" to nukes in Taiwan is politically viable.China already has plenty of nukes; if they are truly as mighty as Emperor Xi wishes, a few tac nukes in Taiwan should be something they can just shrug off politically.

Sorry, this was in reference to potential Chinese reactions to the USA stationing tactical nuclear missiles in Taiwan. There are already regional politbureau bosses arguing that Xi is a secret monarchist and wishes to make himself Emperor of a new China.
If he nukes Taiwan without a pretext. He isn't lasting 5 hours, nor is anyone related to him.

Xi's choice would be make it politically viable for CCP, or face the US a lot earlier than he wanted to.This is just an astounding level of ignorance of domestic Chinese politics.
