In either case, I really hope these people don't start giving finger-waving lectures on the virtues of "unity" or "forgiveness" once this is over. All while ignoring their own culpability and the sheer, irreparable damage their partisan ignorance and hypocritical simping for the same Establishment they once claimed to oppose wrecked. Sadly, I fear I'm wrong about that.
Considering I've scene him say the same, or similar, to other posters for rather frivolous reasons that barely make sense, I doubt that was sarcasm.
I'm pretty sure, in this case, he was RPing the Mods that do the banning.

No, but just because it doesn't affect you doesn't mean it has no affect on lots of other people. For example, the Afghanistan Crisis is no skin off my back personally, but I fear for the people trapped in Taliban country and what this means for US foreign policy going forwards. We're not islands living unto ourselves.
That, and you can't go through life always winging it all the time. There are events and responsibilities that require you to plan well in advance, and if your future is so uncertain that you can't be reasonably sure what the next day of all things will bring, maybe your advice needs second-guessing...
