Rules only work when everyone actually follows them. Germany had rules they were supposed to abide by thanks to the Treaty of Versailles that were fully intended to make it impossible for Germany to become a military threat again, yet Germany did become a threat again because they just stopped following those rules once the Nazis started to take over. So just having rules in place is entirely meaningless, as a bad actor will just ignore them, and take advantage of the fact you are binding yourself by those rules. For example, you and others around you may not like the SECDEF, but they are at the top of you in the chain of command, under the President, who people may not like either, but the question is, why are you or anyone else going to do about it when these people in the chain of command over you start breaking these rules to railroad people and make examples of them? And don't tell me it can never happen, because under much dumber conditions, I saw the Air Force break its own rules to drum out their best female drill instructor over her posing nude in Playboy or some other such skin-mag, and that was just over being embarrassed basically. This is going to be about setting things up to take over Nazi-style, as you seem to recognize yourself from being reminded of 1930s Germany. Do you or anyone else have any kind of plan in place for if these rules start being broken, or more likely, changed in such a way to "justify" purges and the like? Is there a fallback position to even more overt things being done? While I know there are plenty who would never follow orders to hunt down groups of Americans the government might label as terrorists using the laws signed in by Obama, I also have no doubt that there are others who would, and the terrorist label would be the only justification they would need.
