Sports! 2020/21 Summer Olympics

Praying to God Jade Carey wins a medal in the Floor Exercise Final of Women's Gymnastics.

Balance Beam Final: I'm anticipating Sunisa Lee wins another medal 😎

@gral @stevep @TheRomanSlayer Did anyone else watch the Women's 100M Final last night where Jamaica won Gold, Silver & Bronze ?

Sounds like US Track & Field is NOT having a good Olympics.
Not following this Olympics much. Currently things are a bit chaotic in my life, so I'm only seeing the summary of the day(which is, of course, skewed towards Brazilian athletes).

But yes, it seems, from what little I've seen, that the US Track & Field team isn't doing as well as one would expect.

An Olympic meme for the Morning.

I wonder if the lifeguard ever had to do any lifeguarding at an Olympic swim.

Things can happen that even experienced swimmers need help. Cramps, body giving out, etc etc

BREAKING NEWS: Simone Biles will compete on Balance Beam!

My Bold Prediction on the Balance Beam:
Simone Biles: Gold
Sunisa Lee: Silver

You've heardit here first!

Why is that so important? Last time i checked, most people son't particularly care about gymnastics.

Just saw the Women's Badminton Doubles Gold Medal match. That Badminton is intense. it was the 2016 Gold Medal Chinese Team vs. the upstart Indonesian Team of Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu. Apriyani brought some fierce energy to the game. She was practically screaming everytime they got a point. At some points the Chinese team got some scary rallies going but after two matches, Indonesia won the match and the Gold Medal despite being total underdogs and not even expected to medal in these games. And when they won the two girls were literally crying and in tears over their amazing victories.

First match was won 21-19 and the second 21-15.

No sure if mentioned (will not read 5 pages of posts) - my son noticed (or read on the boards he frequents) that the Russian winner of the pneumatic pistol competition was wearing a medalion from the Witcher-verse, marking her as member of Witcher School of the Cat.
Which would fit, as my rusty knowledge of the books and comics suggests that Cats were shootier than the more choppy Wolves.

Yes.
It has become VERY popular with the nerd community.

Fun fact, the American Women's medalist for trap, is Kayle Browning.

So just finished watching womens Gymnastics and glad to see USA still pick up some medals.

Also watched US vs Mexico men's soccer game. Over time leads to USA victory. Definitely a good game to watch for any soccer fans.

Next up I plan on watching some more track and field and some archery.

That 400 meter Mens Hurdle final was epic.

The 400 meter Hurdles World Record was established in 1992 by USA Hurdlist Kevin Young with a time of 46.78.

Karsten Warholm of Norway beat that record two months ago on July 1st with a time of 46.70.

Then in the final heat, Karsten Warholm shattered that record by over three quarters a second, winning the 400 meter Gold Medal with a time of 45.94, establishing a new world record. But that wasn't it.

America's Rai Benjamin came in second, as in within almost a half second of Karsten Warholm with a time of 46.17 meaning he too broke the previous world record. He also established an American record as well as obviously a personal best time.

And the person who came in third, Brazil's Alison dos Santos, came in faster then the 1992 record with a time of 46.72, also almost beating the World Record that was established by Karsten just two months prior as well.

What a crazy insane race that was.

BREAKING NEWS: Simone Biles of the US wins Bronze in the Balance Beam finals.

Sunisa Lee was 5th. I was hoping they would go 1-2, but at least everyone on the 2020 US Women's Gymnastics Team won medals.
