Are you foreshadowing the US Women's Gymnastics Team is due to get humbled ? 🤔

Please explain in full detail why.

No I was talking about women's soccer. Mainly because other countires have closed the skill gap in recent years and the U.S. is just cocky enough to make some dumb errors.

As for Gymnastic. I think they may not the power house from the past couple Olympics but I expect to see a lot of medals from them still.

Road cycling had interesting outcome. While at men's race, first three places were taken by the first three from the Tour, in women's race, the golden medal was taken by a complete outsider, an Austrian with doctorate in math :ROFLMAO: . She was forward enough that the silver medalist thought she won the race when reaching the stop line, mostly due to fact that radio contacts are banned during the race.

Well it looks like American women's soccer won which is of little surprise. It is now time to see how they do against some of the power house teams instead of New Zealand. So while a good start not the massive comeback it is being painted as.

I did watch some swimming and I am happy so see that the USA has built up a good team again. I also plan to watch some rowing today since they are going to start medal rounds soon.

The Olympic Refugee team narrowly missed their first medal when Kimia Alizadeh, formerly of Iran and now living in Germany, lost a Bronze Medal Tae Kwon Do match to Turkey's Hatice Kubra. Back in 2016 she won Bronze for Iran, becoming the Islamic Republic's first female Olympic medalist and seemed on track to winning the first medal for the Refugee Team win she won three matches in a row... including over an Iranian in her opening bout, as well as defeating a Chinese athlete and two time British Gold Medalist Jade Jones 16-12.

Unfortunately she lost her next two matches including a semifinal match against Russia's Tatiana Minina in the Womens 57 kg division.

AP News said:
Alizadeh opened her Tokyo run by beating Kiyani, her close friend, who wore a headscarf for their bout. Alizadeh entered the Makuhari Messe convention center hall with her head uncovered and her hair free. She acknowledged the Iranian coaching staff afterward.

Alizadeh’s finest moment in Tokyo was a massive upset of Jones, who was attempting to become the first three-time taekwondo gold medalist and the first British woman in any sport to win gold at three consecutive Olympics.

Their bout was tied 10-10 with just 30 seconds left, but Alizadeh scored a pair of two-point body kicks to take the lead before hanging on for the four-point victory.

She was unable to compete in 2018 due to injuries and defecting to the West.

Happened a few days ago... but the Israeli Manager of the Czech Basketball team shook hands with the Iranian Basketball Team Coach.

So far the Iranian Coach hasn't made an apology AFAIK or been imprisoned, so here's hoping that continues. Though we've already had the standard rash of athletes who refuse to compete against Israeli athletes. So far in Judo there's been a Sudanese and Algerian Judoka who've refused to compete against the Israeli Tohar Butbul in the Mens 73 kg division.

So, did anybody else see the robots doing perfect throws? Not as fast as people yet but a basketball robot that can do nothing but net throws is pretty impressive.

Well looks like Philly has a replacement on the line for Ben Simmons finally.

I really hope the rumors of Simone Biles being out of the team finals for Women's Gymnastics with an apparent injury isn't true......

Can anyone else confirm ? Jade Carney or McKayla Skinner might come in at the last minute.....

Two athletes, from Sudan and Algeria, withdrew from the Judo competition because there was an Israeli competitor they'd have to face, and they wanted to boycott him.

I honestly don't get their reasoning at all. If you have this problem with Israel it seems more likely you'd relish a chance to beat their competitor up and crush his dreams of a medal, not run away and give him a free pass. Am I just warped in my thinking from too many sports movies?

Yes.
Sports movies kill brain cells, it is known.
I could barely walk once I staggered out of the cinema after Rocky IV - I got so much stupider from watching it ...

This post is a good natured jest.

The first Olympic swimmer from Alaska.
The first OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL SWIMMER FROM ALASKA.

Congratulations Alaska... I thought it was so cold up there that even the Inuit don't learn how to swim... :p

That Watch party in Alaska when their girl Lydia Jacoby won gold in the 100 meter Breaststroke...

Hell yeah.
She did damn good, beating the Taiwanese competition.

Also, 18? Damn she has a good career ahead of her

Also, it seems Taiwan considers themselves Chinese Tepiei for the Olympics. Thier flag isn't involved.
