No, that's wrong; the regressive left's embracing of identity politics, that they only thing which matters is power, is what brought us to this point. It's not a lack of faith in god that's the problem, it's cultural Marxism.
They have made for themselves new gods. To what moral law will you appeal to tell them that they are wrong?
Identity politics are not reconcileable with a Christian worldview. You must first reject Biblical teachings, before you can buy into Identity Politics.
My aunt is one of the most devout Christians I know; and she's the reason I just don't believe that a renewed devotion to god is going to save us, because she's also one of the most die hard regressive leftists I've ever met. You can watch her brain blue screen in real time whenever she sees or hears something that contradicts her closely held beliefs, and she'll latch onto just about any rationalization (no matter how divorced from reality it is) to convince herself that such a thing does not exist; down to simply refusing to acknowledge that it does.
Blind faith is what got us into this mess; so it's not going to be the thing that saves us.
I do not advocate blind faith. It gets exactly what you're describing with your aunt, and as you've seen, it's a destructive thing.
If people do not believe in God, they will make gods out of men, and that is
exactly what leads to the blind sort of cultish violence we're seeing today. George Floyd has been made into an idol, an avatar of what people
think to be true, their martyr of victimhood.
Set aside direct belief in God. That's not why I raised the issue in the first place. The issue is belief in
Truth.
If you believe that Truth is or can be whatever you want it to be, something that is taught aggressively by post-modernists, then you will regularly succumb to or actively seek out believing whatever is most convenient to you, or makes you feel best. This is
exactly what feeds into the myth that black people are massively, disproportionately, persecuted by the police.
If we swept away all the politicized BS, I would not be surprised if we found out that there is some kind of
small bias against blacks in several key high-population areas. I'd be just as unsurprised if that wasn't the case.
The thing is, because rhetoric and dogma have taken the place of pursuit of actual Truth,
because the post-modernists literally believe that they can redefine Truth by redefining language, the key people pushing and (most) of those participating in these riots,
do not care about what is actually True.
They have put their faith and belief in their Cause, their Social Justice movement. They believe that their work will bring about heaven on earth, and a key part of making this ideology widespread and popular, is how Truth, and specifically Truth about God, has been driven out of the public spaces.
You say that it's cultural marxism, not lack of belief in God that brought us to where we are?
I say
the rejection of God is a necessary predicate for believing in cultural marxism.
(And yes, I get that your aunt apparently is a part of a church that has sold out to the regressive left. If you want, I can go through point-by-point how that means that by necessity she's rejected Christianity, and is just claiming the outward appearance of an ideology she lives in opposition to. Many churches have done this.)
