And the irony is that even if it did, the Founding Fathers considered armed people in a Capitol Building, trying to force election integrity to be not only protected speech but a civic duty.
Their mentality was "government is a necessary evil but it is evil and all people who work for government and serve it are inherently corrupt" they wanted every election everywhere challenged all the time.
They considered said challenges to elections and said skepticism a fundamental part of a healthy republic.
And again there used to be knife fights, duels and brawls on the steps of that very building over policy and no one gave a shit. it was seen as a normal part of the process until the fucking cold war when the filthy US IC ruined our Republic.

Teddy Roosevelt effectively fused bits of left and right as a consummate pragmatist. His worldview was “America fuck yeah” and whatever served the Republic’s glory was good enough for him.
Couple that with a healthy love of the environment, and you had one of America’s greatest presidents. I think the modern United States could do with somebody like that again.

The only... I don't know "saving grace" of it all was that it clearly was planned or organized, at least in any large scale. Trump told his people to go to the Capitol, and they did. They just didn't really go there with a plan.
If they weren't there to disrupt the confirmation of the election, what were they there for? They certainly picked a convenient time...
Totally agree, it's the only thing that could possibly save this nation, but I also think we've hit the point where it's impossible.
There can be no centrist President. The people are only interested in extremes. A centrist conservative becomes a "RINO" and basically just bad as a dirty liberal. A centrist liberal becomes "literally a nazi" or accused of being a red hat or some dumb shit. We can't have nice things here now. We can only have our tribe we picked, and anyone not 100% committed to that tribe is bad.
I don't think it's possible to find someone who draws from alittle both in an acceptable way to either side.

If you could point me to the section of the first amendment that allows one to breach the security of the nations capitol and disrupt a Congressional session, i'll concede. I'm not familiar with that part.
It absolutely sickens to me to see a mob to people desecrating our nations capitol, and it sickens me even more that so-called "patriots" cheer them on.

Yes... but the parties are made up of people and require the support of people to continue to do their thing. The fact that there are essentially NO centrists in government would seem to imply that the masses very much are interested in extremes. From a personal perspective, it's somewhat infuriating because I AM generally somewhat centrist... left-leaning centrist... which leads to conservatives thinking i'm a crazy liberal extremist, and liberals thinking i'm a MAGA Trump conservative extremist.
Moderates supposedly exist in droves, but hell if I can find any.
My positions just piss everyone off.
I want Federal gun control that limits what people can have and enforce robust background checks and red flag laws while also still allowing people to obtain guns and keep them for defense. Liberals see that as being a gun nut, conservatives see that as me trying their guns.
I want abortion to be legal and completely up the woman, within a reasonable timeframe. To liberals, i'm an evil conservative trying to regulate women's bodies. To conservatives, i'm killing babies.
I want more money put into the southern border, shoring up border fences where necessary as well as massively increasing the amount of social work/legal representation in order to move asylum requests through the system much faster so we can process people in legally while also making the process to enter legally much more streamlined and easier to do legally. Everyone hates me.

I’m not too familiar with the build up to Teddy’s election. As I understand, the issue was less ideological and more grasping robber barons buggering everything up (as ever, greed destroys itself).

I generally agree. I have a collection of both conservative and liberal beliefs, I support the military (generally considered conservative), gun rights, border security and belief in harsh penalties for murderers, rapists and child molesters. I also believe that government services such as medicaire and tuition-free college are not that unreasonable an ask (we already have police departments and fire departments for example, which is a form of socialism-lite). I condemn both the 25 deaths and hundreds of millions in property damage incurred by the BLM riots, but I empathize with and understand their frustrations. Same with the J6 rioters, I condemn the people they got killed and the damage that was caused, but I empathize with and understand their frustrations. I will never understand how people can be so frothingly rabid and partisan. From the DPRK/Kim regime and PRC simp leftards to the right-wing #NAFO Azerbaijan/Turkey simps as a few examples, I cannot understand people who let political ideologies consume their identity, they're just as bad as the far-left Trans-Rights-Activist LGBTQ that put rainbow shit all over everything or have those asinine bumper stickers and the "I'm triggering the libtards" 100% Trump sycophant cultists. As someone pointed out earlier, a Teddy-style Bull-Moose Party comeback would fix soooo many problems in America's political climate. How do you feel about a blanket ban on the mentally ill being able to obtain guns (legally) and keep them for defense, by the way?
