Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Kinda interesting seeing two weeks of documented heavy equipment losses (since April 8th) being compiled in one big ol list instead of the daily updates.

For Russia.

For Ukraine.

Fishing Nets Being Used to Protect Ukrainian Radar From Russian Lancet Loitering Munitions.

Truck Mounted 57mm Cannon Technicals from both Russia and Ukraine.

Detonation of Russian Anti-Tank Mines by drone dropped munition causes big boom!

Ukrainian Forces made a small lodgement on the East Side of the Dnieper across from Kherson back on April 18th in a largely swampy area. Russian milbloggers were talking about the revelation recently thus publicizing the story.

Tweet thread above has a bit of analysis as to the implications and impact of this development.

Iran is shipping tens of thousands of artillery shells and regular ammunition to Russia for use in Ukraine. Shipments are taken across the Caspian Sea.

Mighty Slovenia dispatched 16 M101 155mm Howitzers and 200 20mm Zastava M55 and M75 AA Guns to Ukraine. The Howitzers are interesting to me since I'm assuming they're pretty old designs. Portugal previously offered some older model 155mm Howitzers but those were declined by Ukraine for being too heavy, outdated and thus lacking in mobility/accuracy I'm assuming. Perhaps with the War becoming more positional, things have changed.

Another Russian Tyulpan 240mm Self Propelled Mortar Destroyed During Fighting by Ukrainian Artillery. Also guest cameo by a passing T-90M Tank.

Russian Mobik who suffered a spine injury in 2016 is serving with elite Russian Naval Infantry in Kherson. Heavy physical labor aggravates the injury. At a military hospital its discovered he is HIV Positive, likely contract from a recent flu inoculation provided by the Russian military. He is sent to Moscow instead of his unit back in Kherson. Relatives set him up for treatment for his HIV at a local clinic. The Russian military then accuses him of desertion. He returns back to his unit in Kherson...

Details on Last Nights Drone Attack Upon Sevastopol. There was a possible major explosion within the harbor but no evidence has surfaced (hurr hurr) of any significant damage done or targets hit.

Flu shot gave him aids?
I’m unsure while Russia is incompetent enough to not use sterilization in its needles for medical purposes.
Russians are also notorious rapists so he could have raped someone and got it. Is there proof for the flu shot idea?

Source of the claims is at the bottom of the linked Twitter thread.

Corrupt shithole protip - if you reuse needles, you can pawn off the needles you didn't use, or not work washing gear.
Russia, Russia never changes...

Ukrainian MoD Press Release States Russia has about 369,000 troops operating around six thousand pieces of "heavy weaponry" in the Ukrainian Special Military Operation spread out across 48 brigades, 122 regiments and other assorted formations.

First Documented Loss of this Particular Model of a Ukrainian Tor Air Defense Launcher by a Russian Lancet Loitering Munition.

Two Vehicles Taken Out By One Ukrainian FPV Drone? Another Armored vehicle is attempting to tow a Russian T-72A Main Battle Tank.

Ukrainian Artillery Eliminates a Russian MKTK-1A Judoist EW system, a somewhat rare system used to secure radio communications and signals and for supervising the electromagnetic environment. Might be first doumented loss of this system, likely due to a guided GMLRS or Excalibur Strike.

The Pacific Fleet's 155th Naval Infantry Brigade, once an elite formation in the Russian Military, has suffered so many casualties it's allegedly been rebuilt seven times, often with other naval personnel. The depot from which it drew its vehicles is almost empty as well according to satellite photography.

And as of a few days ago Admiral Sergei Avakyants of the Pacific Fleet was replaced by Putin in the midst of Russian Naval Exercises/War Games taking place in the North Pacific. This was allegedly due to insubordination. The Admiral first resisted orders to sent troops to Ukraine and then subverted those orders by sending lower quality sailors and personnel to replace the elite Naval Infantry/Marines that were lost in the earlier months of the 155th Naval Infantry Brigades operations in Ukraine. After suffering hundreds of casualties during Winter assaults on Vuhledar, the 155th Brigade (along with other formations) allegedly refused new orders for continued offensive operations.

The Admiral, who had commanded the Pacific Fleet for about a decade, will apparently be shifted to a minor diplomatic role in Moscow, likely a nice office with a window view.

And the Russia theory of Nordstream explosion gets a boost.
Apparently a minisub equipped Russian ship with turned off AIS was spotted near the explosion location few days before it happened. Denmark probably has photos of that.

Russian Missile Struck a High Rise in Uman, Cherkasy Region. Casualties feared to be likely.

Several islands on the Southern Dnieper River near Kherson are currently being contested with fighting and operations ongoing.

One organization has managed to deliver over a hundred privately owned armored vehicles to Ukraine.

Russian Lancet Loitering Munitions Striking two Ukrainian S-300 Air Defense Systems.

Russians soldiers allegedly contracted anthrax from livestock whilst digging trenches in Southern Ukraine.

Of note: The linked article, unlike the Twitter thread, notes that there were both an unspecified number of U.S. military ships (as well as at least one helicopter) and a total of six Russian military ships in the area (including the one pictured in the tweet), all of which had deviated from standard travel and patrol routes to spend time in the area around 21-22 September. This, in turn, prompted multiple countries - including Sweden, Denmark, and Germany - to send military vessels, as well as additional military aircraft from Sweden and Poland, to check it all out. The provided images of the Russian ships were taken by a Danish patrol ship.

In short, based on the data provided in the article (but mostly missing from the Twitter thread, for whatever reason), if the Russians were indeed responsible it would appear the U.S. was fully or partially aware of it and either refused or failed to intervene, or cooperated with the operation. Unfortunately there is not enough information in the article to tell what was going on between the Russian and U.S. ships, nor which group was actually responsible, if either, and the Danish military is stated to (unsurprisingly) have refused to answer questions on the matter. It is noted, however, that the composition of the Russian ships made them well-equipped to carry out the sort of underwater operations necessary for blowing up Nordstream 1 and 2, but there is no corresponding commentary on the composition of the U.S. ships nor whether or not their AIS was active, which is rather odd under the circumstances.

From the article (assuming the information given is accurate, though sadly incomplete), possibilities include:
A) The Russians did it and the U.S. was fully or partially aware of it but refused or failed to intervene.
B) The U.S. did it and the Russians were fully or partially aware of it but refused or failed to intervene.
C) The Russians and the U.S. did it in a joint operation.
D) Somebody else did it and both the Russians and the U.S. were fully or partially aware of it but refused or failed to intervene.
E) All the Russian and U.S. military vessels were in the area at the time for completely unrelated reasons (Yeah... Okay...)

Guess we'll just have to wait and see. 🤷‍♂️

Nineteen French-made Caesar Self Propelled Guns to be Delivered to Ukraine from Denmark.

Four Abandoned Russian Tanks Blown up by Ukrainian Drones.

Six Russian Logistics Officers Found Guilty of Profiting off of Stolen Fuel to the Tune of thousands of dollars. They were forced to pay restitution, and fined a few hundred bucks on top of that. The whole eleven post thread is a pretty interesting series of anecdotes on fuel theft in the Russian military, specifically in many cases, aviation fuels.

An estimated twenty four people were killed in the Russian missile strike upon a residential building in Uman, Cherkasy last night.

Summation of what was known about the Drone Strike on the Sevastopol Oil Farm. The fires weren't extinguished, allegedly the fuel just burned up.

Modified Mugin-5 Drones Possibly Used. Perhaps multiple ones launched.

If the strike did originate from near Odessa it may reinforce the Russian desire to modify or curb the Black Sea Grain Initiative made last year.

A few days ago (the news eclipsed by the successful drone attack on the Sevastopol Oil Farm) a Ukrainian HIMARS Strike Eliminated a Command Post of the Russian 58th Combined Arms Army twenty kilometers behind the lines.

First Picture of a modernized Grad MLRS, the work done by the Czech-based Excalibur Company. The BM-21MT is mounted on a Tatra 4x4 chassis and has a new FCS and ballistics computer installed.

Ukrainians allege evidence points to the recent Cruise Missile launched at Ukraine were produced in the past few months.

A modern Russian T-90S Main Battle Tank, the latest models typically approved for export, destroyed while in Russian service instead. Likely abandoned prior to being destroyed by a drone dropped munition.

Thankfully its replacement is on the way. Russian T-55's Seen Being Transported near occupied port city of Berdyansk on the Sea of Azov in Southern Ukraine.

Russia would probably have a much better time if all of their advanced weapon systems weren't simply 'abandooned' every fucking day.
Like how do drones strike so far behind enemy lines when you're supposed to have SAM's and MANPADS? How do your tank offensives fail so hard? Oh wait, Ivan booked it hours ago because he heard a twig break near him.

That sort of stuff is part of the reason.
If the fancy engines for fancy T-90's get disappeared like this, imagine what happens to more boring and less valuable parts. And then no wonder that the tanks don't get properly maintained, randomly break and get abandoned if they have no spares and can't even requisition more because then someone would ask what happened to the previous spares.
