Coming into a country illegally is invading it, even if many just treat it as a bureaucratic crime.
If a person is not willing to go through the current US immigration process and they want to skip the line, they the same risk that some trespassing on private property does.
Technically, a lot of people won't be able to come here through the current US immigration process. As Ilya Somin points out, for many, the legal immigration line will take hundreds of years, if it actually exists at all.
Tough shit, foreign nationals are not owed citizenship or a speedy immigration process into the US.

So, that's the ground that you make a distinction between births and immigration: You don't perceive people who are born US citizens as being invaders but you do perceive people who want to immigrate here as being invaders if they don't want to follow the law in regards to this. If neither parent is a US citizen, or at least a valid green card/permanent resident status at the time of the child's birth, then the child just being born on US soil does not make them an American citizen.
They also probably believe that population is power and that it thus pays off much more to be a part of a 500 million-strong confederation.
