Meme Thread for Both Posting and Discussing Memes

I mean, a ton of people think libertarians are republicans who like weed or democrats who don't like to spend money. In reality, Libertarianism is its own philosophy with a deep set of ethics and morality, a political party, and more. Now I have seen someone make a philosophic argument that fraud isn't punishable under a libertarian philosophy, but more make the other argument. Fraud is violating the contract, simple as.

Now there is the Casino point: There are shitty deals that are presented honestly enough. If you decide to go into a casino to play the craps table thinking you'll win money but go broke, that's straight up on you (assuming fair dice). They told you the rules of the game, and more, everyone knows that the odds are in the houses favor. That's not fraud, that's just buyer beware.

Fraud does occur when someone sells you a house claiming X square feet, and it's Y. A straight up lie. Or more subtly, someone sells you a car, but not the engine, while implying it had one (pictures of a new car, etc).
I mean I am a unrepentant darwinist so long as the playing field Is even but fucks like that make sure that's not the case.they cheat the game at every opportunity.

Um, to be clear because of what you quoted, are you talking about casino owners or landlords right now?

And if you are talking about blackrock, I'm still waiting on evidence for your claims in regards to tax manipulation.

Speaking as a homeowner, those investors are incredibly annoying. I get calls daily, flyers are left on my door, my mailbox gets stuffed with them. Frankly, if it's communist to want these people to shut up and go away, all hail Marx and Lenin.

*Glances at all the instances of commies making the investors "shut up and go away" throughout history.*

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this. They may be obnoxious, but considering Marx and Lenin's track record over the last century, well... let's just say I'd prefer a much less bloody and economically disastrous solution than giving those people power again.

Look, I know the current system has problems, but a silly little comic where Marx is giving financial advice doesn't hold a candle to a slew of history showing how ruinous his ideas were in practice. Because frankly, historical and economic reality doesn't care what this cartoonist thinks, and anyone citing the cultish crank who came up with a dead-end economic system with that kind of track record shouldn't be taken seriously, so that the adults in the room can discuss solutions.

"Keeping the playing field even". An interesting turn of phrase. Let's look at this. Who is going to be keeping the playing field even? And from the meme shown, what's being done that is uneven?

Cause to me, it looks like that means "Communists shouldn't have a monopoly on the government stopping people from consensually buying property." Which, well, communists do, because that is communism.

Its more that they shouldn't be able to effectively bribe politicians into scenarios where normal home owners can't afford to live somewhere but its all still somehow legal. Also most of that money comes from foreign investors.

Can you cite evidence of them doing this? Seriously, you've said this is happening a bunch, but when have they advocated policies that make it unaffordable/stopping new buildings? I've yet to see sources for this despite asking before. As for the foreign investors, I couldn't care less who is doing it.

Marx had a skewed conception of what the problems were, and his proposed solution amounted to empty rhetoric and hand-waving. Which is why Communists following the "kill all the people in charge of the current system, then build Glorious New System" script tend to get stuck once they run out of people to kill.

... Yeah, sounds about right. Too bad there are still idiotic utopians who believe in it, and would probably kill to get their way, if the opportunity to do it again and implement it in countries hitherto untouched by commie rule (namely, the United States) ever arose. 😕

Considering the site he's posting this on, we can bet he's incurred some "spicy" replies, yeah? History may attest to what he said, with gun control having been weaponized against free blacks after the Civil War and whatnot, but as much as they scream about robots being racist, tipping being racist, and freedom being racist, they're also surprisingly silent on the (overwhelmingly!) racist history of attempts to "disarm" certain segments of the population. And I can't help, but wonder why...

Infering in God's plan because of misguided compassion, ain't that something. This said, what would they be like without having eaten the fruit of knowledge?

Those naked people have antennae on their heads - they've obviously aliens. Maybe their being prevented from falling by a human astronaut could be part of God's plan?
