Politics is the tax rate meta-stat: tax rate comes from approval, which comes from politics. It's also one of our worst imperial stats (note that approval is by far the most valuable imperial stat, even if its roll is less likely to give useful events on a crit). Interest rate is valuable, but generally doesn't bring us too much income. And imperial econ is a pretty small effect, though it's becoming more useful as we acquire more planets.

Caravel has been crippled and is currently unable to jump
Welp, white tower on Griff's Leap is now a priority going into the plan next turn.

And as for the attack on Nova Roma... Ouch. Kind of wonder if we need to ask them to let us build a white tower there as well.

I doubt they would refuse given the Stations sheer lethality. Honestly I would not be surprised if they didn't ask for one sooner or later. Same with the Rasalhague guys.

That does give us near total control of a jump point, basically makes us their overlords
Indeed, that's the biggest problem with doing so. Especially given we probably aren't willing to just let them keep that example of much of our best tech. But not sure what the best solution to major pirate raids is, especially as we currently share a military commander.

again they did just buy a shiny new fort design from us. They probably want to build them

RIP grandson.

Same with the Rasalhague guys.

New Rasalhague was created by a contingent of Drac officers who rebelled, was it not? I'd imagine that they state they set up would be much more capable than the NRI. Ie, they could at least build Drac tech, and ofcourse they would be much more experienced at warfare than the NRI, and thus better hold their own.

We might wind up incorporating the NRI in a few decades (they're already heavily reliant on us for their security), but I can't see New Rasalhague ever being anything more than our next door allies.

It's worth pointing out that the NRI has clantech Gauss rifles - they aren't really in a worse shape technologically than the NRR is even if their tech bases are very different (ignoring jumpships, a significant NRR advantage). In addition, the NRI is a multistellar state that's been fending off the pirates (with debatable success) for a very long time, so while they haven't dealt with the constant war pressure those who came from the Combine in the midst of the Succession Wars did, they do know how to fight this specific enemy (even if the enemy is acting unusually boldly).

NRR is indeed Drac rebels. Their leader was, I'm pretty sure, head of the DCA detachment (though could be a wider variety of people following him into rebellion). On the other hand, this actually suggests a limit to their power - while NRI is built on an old colony and it's expansion efforts, the NRR is based solely on the expansion efforts of a relatively new colony and it's conquests.

So it's really hard to compare the two nations. Beyond the fact that the NRI just fell into a serious civil war and lost most of it's military, or course.

Where are we roughly in relation to the inner sphere?
We're roughly as far out as the Clanners are, but in the opposite direction. I think there's a more specific thing somewhere (something about McEvedy's Folly in regards to direction), but it's been changed and moved farther out at least once.

we are I think over twice as far out from the sphere as the Clans are. and Our position was changed since the first position made no sense due to not being in proximity to Fedsuns space.

roughly the same distance actually, the Clans are a year out, but that's mostly because the route isn't straight
That's the most recent thing I can find in the discord. Pretty sure I was able to find 9 months [from the periphery] travel distance. And this is definitely after the (first?) position change. 9 months is about 9*4=36 jumps, or 36*30=1080 light years.

If looking through discord had correctly reminded me, we're somewhere southeast of Rim Worlds Republic Outpost 11 ( ... and I'm just now connecting that to the Amaris remnant...), roughly in line with the Capellan/FedSuns border.
