Doom Wheel monocycles!!!
From what I can understand, melee with rather impressive material clad fists with artificial muscles that are simply insane in terms of capabilities tend to leave only remains that you have to break down and recycle that way (which is very inefficient in comparison when you don't have nanotech disassemblers on hand)...Why does melee not leave anything to recycle? I've never run into that explanation before.

The thing is, we've seen that, oddly enough, composite metal foams react similarly to EndoSteel in real life, which means the 'quadradic armor' of Battletech is probably possible...Huh. You'd think that would be reflected in the damage they do but this is Battletech...
This is another reason, but then again the Clans have a recycling fetish that is just insane without things like nano-tech production. As mentioned in the First Strike and The Dragon Roars books, the Clan aversion to melee combat is *not* part of the formal zellbringen rules, but is an informal element piled on by Clan culture. It is implied that melee attacks are simply seen as crude and clumsy "cheap shots" which reflect poorly on the skills of a Mechwarrior.
Yeah, that part I knew but thanks. I'd just never heard before that punching a 'mech makes it harder to repair/recycle it than shooting it and wondered where that was from.As mentioned in the First Strike and The Dragon Roars books, the Clan aversion to melee combat is *not* part of the formal zellbringen rules, but is an informal element piled on by Clan culture. It was a long time ago when I heard of that explanation. You also have to understand that Battletech armor is 'quadradic', so to speak. Ever heard of the saying 'linear warrior, quadradic wizard'? Battletech armor is similar. Instead of protection being linear (i.e. a straight line on a chart), Battletech's protection is quadradic (i.e. the line curves upward/downward at a certain point). That is why weapon masses just balloon in Battletech, you need a lot of energy to increase the damage output. Given that a comparatively thin string of mylomer literally threw the entire testing rig (used to test industrial equipment) across the testing chamber and cause it to crash into the opposing wall (with the equipment creating a small crater in said wall)...Yeah, that part I knew but thanks. I'd just never heard before that punching a 'mech makes it harder to repair/recycle it than shooting it and wondered where that was from.
The closest thing to an autocannon that BA can haul around is the Bearhunter AC system. Don't forget that most AC-2s (i.e. one of the most common) are 75/76mm cannon based on the ARES cannon concept (which had two versions, a 75mm cannon and a 90mm cannon, both of them able to fire three rounds in a second), probably with some ETC (Electrothermal Chemical) technology put in to give the general 'hypersonic/hypervelocity' descriptors for the rounds going downrange.Would the Battle Armor LBX be in use by the THIE or any of its foes?
There are stats for the Battle Armor LBX in Tactical Operations, and it can appear on the Black Wolf Battle Armor. The closest thing to an autocannon that BA can haul around is the Bearhunter AC system. I have Tactical Operations mate, and it doesn't have it on any page. From the Sarna.net page, it's a technical readout bit. There are stats for the Battle Armor LBX in Tactical Operations, and it can appear on the Black Wolf Battle Armor.
Are you sure about that? Tactical Operations: Advanced Units & Equipment, page 98.I have Tactical Operations mate, and it doesn't have it on any page. From the Sarna.net page, it's a technical readout bit.
Page 98 is about picking up a BA and chucking it at your enemies. Are you sure about that? Tactical Operations: Advanced Units & Equipment, page 98.
My copy's one of the newer ones - split the original book into two separate ones (why I specified Tactical Operations: Advanced Units and Equipment.) It's right under Clan Rotary Autocannons.Page 98 is about picking up a BA and chucking it at your enemies.
The must have added content then, in the old book is BA mechanical jump boosters after clan RAC.My copy's one of the newer ones - split the original book into two separate ones (why I specified Tactical Operations: Advanced Units and Equipment.) It's right under Clan Rotary Autocannons.
Must have then (might have been the reason why they re-released it.) Never played around with BA that much, but compared to the Bearhunter, it has a range of 2/5/8 and deals four points of damage (one point clusters.) Not bad, but you're going to need heavier suits to be able to use it at a mass of 400kg.The must have added content then, in the old book is BA mechanical jump boosters after clan RAC.
The latest MegaMek Lab is 0.47.16 and it doesn't have BA LBX either.Yeah, it's in the latest edition of TacOps Advanced Units & Equipment, but it isn't supported by MML yet (or at least my version, I'm using the BQ fork of MML which might be behind on that implementation)
Page 98 in my copy is about throwing BA around like rag dolls...Are you sure about that? Tactical Operations: Advanced Units & Equipment, page 98.
We can agree on something...Page 98 is about picking up a BA and chucking it at your enemies.
... they're making us pay through the nose then aren't they? Yep. Threw in a brief description in the post above yours if you want an idea of how it works.... they're making us pay through the nose then aren't they? I've got my copy of TacOps back in the mid-20-teens...
