Some of us have boomers for friends and family and don’t want them to die a horrible death drowning in mucus. I mean, do these people my age, around 30, seriously not have any boomer friends? Do they not know anyone in their fifties or sixties and have a cordial relationship with them?

We're talking about people who, by and large, act like sociopaths; I don't think they have friends period. Or, at least, not ones they wouldn't turn on at the drop of a hat, if it would benefit them in any way to do so.

I am not sure they thought that far ahead, or really thought at all about this...well thought too hard. Pretty sure this them saying things that they have been programmed to say and think, so that they are not examining their words too closely. I am 90% sure they have people close to them that fall under that category and they complete miss it. Or perhaps their cognitive dissonance is allowing them to ignore it or circumvent it. In the second case, they'd probably self-justify that they mean all the other boomers.

Hopefully I am communicating well, I got a notion in my head of why they are acting like this, and thus want to give you an answer, because your question merits. However I feel my words are failing me, and my mind feels foggy- and it is far too late for any caffeine.

Though, what I see here is them progressing from an ideological premise, that A) Boomers are Bad B)A functioning capitalist economy is bad, C) This plague has the potential to gut both, D) Therefore the Plague is good.

to be fair most left wingers who join and survive their first contract exit the military less extreme then when they got in and usefully with some useful skills. The military for all of its buracratic faults does a great job teaching people that they are not the center of the universe.

I have been noticing in the news and across the internet people saying South Korea and Singapore got a handle on the Virus why not the US......... Do these people not know the size difference between the US and those two nations. One is the size of a Continent practically. While the other two are small and very small. Scale means something in this world and people need to realize that.

China not testing people anymore makes sense if it's reached almost complete saturation. Something we will get to eventually as well though we are trying to slow it down. They've given up on containment or slowing it down as that's pointless and a waste of resources and are now focussed on social stability. Which is hurt more by economic collapse than by a small percentage at most of predominantly old and weak people past their working prime dying.

China can also control access to information of its citizens and cover up the extent of any damage to avoid panic even if it is/was warranted. And is now focussing on doing just that to lessen the economic toll on the country.

You know, years ago back in high school during me and my classmates months long educational experience in China and hearing a lot about how it'll be incredibly important to learning how to do business

The concept of "Saving Face" which basically needed people to constantly fake and pretend to be calm & polite

It may actually extend to pretending as if everything is calm and polite even when it isn't

Because once you "Lose Face" you can't get it back and everybody will laugh at you....or not really and they're just paranoid of people behaving in a way they don't actually
