China is only detecting 5% of cases. The number of infected in Wuhan is well over 1 million. If the mortality really is 3 to 5% and there is no "iceberg" of mild cases, then 30,000 to 50,000 people, at minimum, are already dead, in
just one city. The mortality rate isn't the problem. The
infectiousness is. It infects so many people, so quickly, with its R0 of 6.6, it plays roulette with the lives of millions in a matter of a few short weeks.
80% of cases are mild, 20% are severe and require medical attention. If hospitals collapse because there are suddenly 100,000 sick people and no beds, then the mortality rate rises sharply because people who need ventilators and oxygen concentrators to breathe won't be able to get them.
Iran had
210 deaths out of 388 known cases.
The tally by BBC Persian is six times higher than the health ministry's official death toll of 34.

I just sent a very lengthy 8500-word email to Mitch Murata:

To quote myself:
This is not "just a flu". Heck, it's not "just" a nasty respiratory disease, either. I have been digging, and digging, and digging, and the conclusion is inescapable. It attacks multiple vital organs and causes severe autoimmune reactions.
Oh, and it also makes people collapse and do the Worm.
These people are severely brain-damaged because of COVID-19. They suffer brain death and
they do not get back up.
Many of the collapse patients were taken to hospitals in Wuhan where it was quickly determined that they required life support to keep them alive, because they had diaphragm paralysis, because
their brains were no longer telling their lungs to breathe, because they were brain-dead.
There is no such thing as overreacting with this virus.
This thing is a monster the likes of which none of us have seen in living memory.
