China Wuhan Virus Pandemic

SB has jumped on the "It's Trump's fault the USA isn't responding well to this." Quite hilarious when the first few posts on that thread are all about how it's just a flu and a Chinese issue at most.

And, of couse, the Mainstream Media can't let a good tragedy go to waste. They are now claiming Trump said this is a Democrat Hoax, despite the speech they use as source making it abundantly clear that the Democrat Hoax he is talking about is the politization of the virus.

Uhh... Seattle area... uhh...

Well, technically Bremerton, uhh...

I live in Santee South Carolina.
I'm just asking because I live up in Pennsylvania and I'm wondering if I should be taking the same sort of steps you guys are.

I do have a gas mask (with replacement filters), stocked up with food (about a months worth, more if I ration it), water (3 gallons worth, along with also those chemical pills you drop into water to purify it), various vitamins, some basic medical supplies and of course, duct tape.

Bear in mind that I live in an apartment about 45 minutes out from Philadelphia. Which means I still have to go out to do things like laundry. And that if one person in the complex gets sick, I'm aware that the virus could easily spread.

Oh and as for fire power, I've got the usual assortment of kitchen knives, a bowie knife and an air gun. Not that I think I'll have to really fight anyone.

Didn't Trump just ask for a whole bunch of money from congress to fight the virus?

Doesn't matter. Orange Man bad. He had the gall to hire his first committee on the virus based on skill without any regard for diversity! That is a huge red flag that he wants the virus to kill the minorities and then cancel the elections to become president for life!!!! /s

Would all that anger give them lots of high blood pressure?

First one.

Fuck. FUCK.

Welp, I'm not going out without wearing my MSA Millennium and gloves, now. Fuck it. I don't give a fuck if my boss complains that the gas mask looks scary.

I don't care if I get weird looks or get accosted. I'm not going to get sick with this fucking bullshit.
I know the feeling; I live in Federal Way, just south of Seattle. Bremerton is far enough though that I don't think I'm in immediate danger, and there is the possibility that the kid in your city got a false positive. Still, better to be safe than sorry.

Drawers have been filled. Plans have been put into motion.

I am also desperately contacting several individuals at the moment.

-Dr. Todd Rider, PhD, MIT
-Michael Coudrey, of the Pharos Investment Group
-Mitchell Murata, Board Director of Blue Planet-works in Japan (an acquaintance of Colonel Ken Alibek, the former head of the Soviet biowarfare research program)
-WSJ Correspondent Surya Bhattacharya
-Dr. Laura Evans, with the UW
-Professor Neil Ferguson, an epidemiologist with Imperial College London
-Senator Richard Blumenthal
-Dr. Robert Redfield, CDC director
-Alex Michael Azar II, head of HHS

I am not going to fucking sit on my ass and do nothing. People need to know what's actually happening here, and it's not fucking good. Not good at all. Jesus Christ. I also need to get in touch with Dr. Hopland, who was on the cruise ship and got sick, and Congressman Dr. Phil Roe, who corresponded with him.

Fuck. Fuck!

Do people think I'm just some kinda fuckin' pantywaist who's going to sit here and suffer in silence while officials in Japan play with the virus like they're frolicking around in a sand castle? Fuck no! I'm going to take action, and it will be comprehensive!

Let the emails and phone calls flow!

My aunt lives in Federal Way, too.

The only safe place to be right now is Antarctica. I'm serious. Don't go out if you don't have to. If you have to go out, do not get within 10 feet of anyone, and do not touch anything. Also, do not touch your face, and wash your hands as if you believe that a cow had just shit on them ten seconds ago. If you have a P100 mask and goggles of some kind, or a full-face respirator, wear it. If you have an N95 or a surgical mask, or only half-face protection, don't bother. The virus can enter the body through the eyes.

If we see 1 or 2 patients with community spread, that means there are actually dozens of people walking around the state who already have it, who, in turn, are in the process of infecting dozens more. Cases are incubating as we speak.

Don't go out!

Dude, seriously, calm down. The Flu kills more people a year than this thing has. And the United States just had its first Corona virus death. 1 of 73.

Mortality rates seem to hold steady, at worst, of 3% to 5%. This thing is nuts in how it can infect people and stay alive so long on a surface, but it isn't yet close to matching the flue in mortality let alone something utterly terrifying like Ebola (Ebola which has a 46 to 50% mortality rate).

I've gotten my weekly CDC briefing from DEHEC. Most of these people are either elderly or very young (like infants and toddlers) or they have compromised immune systems from things like High BP, Dialysis, or other issues that compromise the immune system. Few healthy people have died. Most have recovered from this thing. So please calm down.

China is only detecting 5% of cases. The number of infected in Wuhan is well over 1 million. If the mortality really is 3 to 5% and there is no "iceberg" of mild cases, then 30,000 to 50,000 people, at minimum, are already dead, in just one city. The mortality rate isn't the problem. The infectiousness is. It infects so many people, so quickly, with its R0 of 6.6, it plays roulette with the lives of millions in a matter of a few short weeks.

80% of cases are mild, 20% are severe and require medical attention. If hospitals collapse because there are suddenly 100,000 sick people and no beds, then the mortality rate rises sharply because people who need ventilators and oxygen concentrators to breathe won't be able to get them.

Iran had 210 deaths out of 388 known cases.

I just sent a very lengthy 8500-word email to Mitch Murata:

Email to Mitch Murata

To quote myself:

This is not "just a flu". Heck, it's not "just" a nasty respiratory disease, either. I have been digging, and digging, and digging, and the conclusion is inescapable. It attacks multiple vital organs and causes severe autoimmune reactions.

Oh, and it also makes people collapse and do the Worm.

These people are severely brain-damaged because of COVID-19. They suffer brain death and they do not get back up.

Many of the collapse patients were taken to hospitals in Wuhan where it was quickly determined that they required life support to keep them alive, because they had diaphragm paralysis, because their brains were no longer telling their lungs to breathe, because they were brain-dead.

There is no such thing as overreacting with this virus.

This thing is a monster the likes of which none of us have seen in living memory.

Yeah I roll my eyes when people say ebola was worse, Yeah ebola was more likely to kill you, but Corona is a hell of a lot more infectus. Ebolo killed to fast to spread anywhere meaningful.

All this chaos going on in barely 2 months, I'm actually worried about what this outbreak will look like by the end of the year.
