They could not have picked a worse time to do this; both for themselves, and the rest of the world. This will either spell the end of Turkey, or Europe as a whole; assuming the Corona virus doesn't end up taking everyone out indiscriminately.

If the EU is going to have a change of heart on handling its external borders, now is a great opportunity. Between Turkey's dubious war actions, pressure on EU members (spat with Greece over EEZs, Libya involvement), and the virus spread, it's a perfect excuse to close the border. Completely. Legal, illegal, fuck it. Taking all that together there is a decent excuse for anyone, left, right or center. Close the border with Turkey and put Greek and Bulgarian forces on it to keep it closed.

Don't think of Macau as China's verson of Los vegas because it isn't. Macau's true purpose is to act as a way to get Chinese money out of the country. What Macau does is contact rich individuals in china and offer them 'vacation packages' they buy the package and are given X amount of chips these chips can only be used in the casino if you win however you can exchange the vacation pakage chips for regular chips which can be exchanged for the currency of your choice.
For the weathy low risk games like bacarate are prefered, they normally lose about 8% which for these wealthy individuals is treated as essentially the cost of doing business. Armed with this money these indivuals can now buy resources, land and other avenues to get their wealth out of china. Their know things are bad so this is scared money that's willing to accept 50% losses because at least that way some thing is saved.
Pretty much any one with money in china understands that the current economy is completely unsustainable and their heading for a crash, the corona virus just takes the underlying weakness and throws gas on the fire. In light of this there was no way that Macau was going to stay closed.

Well, Erdogan just opened the borders to let Syrians en masse out of Turkey and into the EU. And nobody will secure the borders. Pandemic + unchecked mass migration = happy fun times, apparently. Also, still no behavioral guidelines or upgraded protection at our department.

As Einstein said 'There are two infinite things in this world; the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the first one.'
If the options are 'global conspiracy' or 'astounding stupidity', it's usually better to assume the second, not the first, option.

It astounds me how these people can be so clever at getting into power, then so brain dead at wielding power. It honestly seems like Medieval Kings on average had more of a mind for half way competent governance than our current glorious leaders.
