It is all getting out of control now. Most media is now running damage control.
I want you all to remember that the people in power care more about stability and money than the actual human cost. The sort of priorities we can see out of this is "keep the economy going" "keep exports and imports happening" "try very hard not to shut down travel" "censor the internet to keep ~disinformation~ in check".
And they wrote it all out on their manuals. Look at items 3, 6 and 7. Profits before people.

I just noticed the SB thread on this has a mod Sticky "debunking" some "stupid rumors" about it being a leaked bio weapon and the scale and origin.
One Washington Post where they say "we asked some people and they said it was unlikely, any research they did would have been covert but it's likely this is bullshit" and a BBC one where they play the "Fake news" card and talk about Facebook posts encouraging people to take vitamin C as if it was some horrible rumor and one where they "debunk" the "rumor" of the bat soup origin because the video was filmed somewhere else.
God it's pathetic.

No, we've known it was airborne for a while. This is just the first scientific, absolute proof. It changes nothing and indeed dependent on the information about the size of droplets necessary for transmission it might even be good news.

To be fair, it's not like there's much direct evidence to support the idea; just a lot that's circumstantial. The fact of the matter is though that some people (like those over on SB) simply don't want to believe that this Corona Virus thing is that big of a deal, and they will do anything to convince themselves otherwise. They'd rather go through life thinking that the worst thing that can happen to them is someone saying mean words on Twitter.

Like, to play devil's advocate I can see why the SB admins would want to control that sort of stuff. I can see it getting out of control really fast and (((echoes))) being pulled out and shit. But the way they are going about it it's obvious that, just as you said, they just don't want to believe anything else and just want the status quo to be maintained. No discussion is allowed outside this one specific sector. As I said there, they can 100% say that this isn't that bad without ass-kissing the CCP but they don't see it that way.
Far as Im concerned the absolute worst case senerio is another black death, that would kill around 1/3 of our population.
That means in a worst case senerio I have a 2/3rds chance of surviving, and I have bet on worse.

2. The actual death toll from the Black Death ranged from 50 - 60% in more densely populated western Europe and Italy down to 20% in Germany and central Europe with its lighter population and more rural areas;
3. Humanity has already encountered coronavirii, including the Common Cold. How many Common Colds do you think you've had? That automatically improves your resilience;
4. We know as a point of fact that Wuhan has horrible smog conditions leading to chronic upper respiratory issues for its population;
5. Chinese men also smoke a lot;
6. 4 and 5 give us plausible causes for part of the death rate in Wuhan;
7. Only two people outside of China have died so far. There are 345 cases outside of China. That means the death rate outside of China right now is is less than one percent. And the PRC can't gundeck the numbers outside of Red China, by definition.
Now, is this serious? Oh yes. It's incredibly contagious and like the Spanish Influenza it might easily infect one-third of the world population before burning out. But if the death rate doesn't increase outside of Red China, that would still be only 22 million dead or so. Now, I am inclined to believe the situation is somewhat worse than that... But I believe, quite firmly, there is no serious evidence to suggest that, adjusted for population growth, your statistical likelihood of dying of this disease is higher than it was in 1918 - 1919 of dying of the Spanish Flu.
