The smart thing to do is just vacinate people declare the problem over and then rebuild the economy as quickly as possible.
Stupidest thing to do is to continue a forever lockdown.

Its also expensive as fuck, and this is the last year before the global credit crunch starts. They pull this shit long term and they will run out of other peoples money real fast.

Too bad for them. Covid is a SARS virus and vastly more stable in its mutation than the flu. A variant that ignores the vaccine entirely is exceedingly unlikely, and all these variant scare stories turn out to be "oh, the vaccine is effective against them after all."
Whether by natural herd immunity or mass vaccination, Covid will cease to be a problem and people will move one. If the daft bastards in charge actually want to be totalitarian dictators (for which I think they lack both competence and ambition), they are on the clock.

Zillow calls it the "Great Reshuffling" where a great many people are leaving the Pacific and North Eastern states (and Chicago) to Arizona, Texas, and Florida and other parts of the South. I can't help but notice that these are places where it is generally cheaper to live and less restrictive. People had been wanting to move for some time, but are now just going and doing it. I hope they don't bring what ruined their origin states with them.

I don't think the Brits would "snap", if there are still methods of political redress. We aren't a violent people for the most part. More likely is that us "snapping" manifests as the meteoric rise of a Nationalist movement that either takes power or makes the Tories shit themselves, rub some grey cells together, and finally make some common sense reforms.
No offense to the english but when Thatcher left she took the Tories spine with her.
