Alternate History World War III: 1988, aka "The War of '88"

Want to apologize again for the delays. Have been brainstorming some ideas with CurtisLemay that I will be incorporating in the next few chapters.

Let's just say, as I may have already hinted, some certain undercurrents will get a bit stranger, especially in a certain town called Hawkins...because seriously, the Soviets have long memories, and really aren't the forgiving sort, hint hint...

"For every action, there is reaction, Mr. Hopper. Action, and consequences. Retribution, for a wrongful act...."

"We Soviets have long memories. We do not forget...or forgive. You did not think we would forget about you, or your adopted daughter, or her friends.....did you?"

Errr...the war hasn't started yet...

May as well have been

The Communists are gonna have a hard time indoctrinating foreigners, that’s one major deathknell

Say, just to ask, any chance they’re continuously watching the ones in things like SF&F

Kinda ironic how they’re the ones who did the most gatekeeping in the earlier decades before the internet....gonna have to start accepting more guys whom they hate but have to acknowledge are actually good at writing for one

I hope Lenin’s corpse is thrown into a ditch for this

Considering, that 90% of their victims was their fellow soviets, they should start killing themselves.

Sometimes that happen.More then few soviet agent was beaten to death by polish workers after soviet take over Poland.
Unfortunatelly, that always ended with dead workers.

And with the October '86 Coup in this universe, who knows just how harsh the crackdown has been in Poland? Unlike the Polish Crisis of 1980-81, there's rumors now of Soviet KGB troops doing sweeps throughout the country rounding up "undesirables". And no one's heard a peep from Lech Walesa since his arrest as well...all of which may also get hinted at in the next chapter.

Kujo

For the FEDCOM! For the Archon-Prince!
Poles have a long history of fighting lost causes, some that didn't turn out to be so lost (Vienna battle of Wizna ) The Soviets play with the sprit of Poland at their own peril!

Can't wait for the next chapter Tiamat!!!!

Poland, sadly, has always been consigned to being one of the central battlefields of Europe by it's history and geography. And this coming war will prove that yet again.

As we currently knew, Lech Wałęsa was commie agent,so they should not hurt their own people. If You see real leaders, that would be Anna Walentynowicz,Antoni Macierewicz or Andrzej Gwiazda.

As for soviet fate - entire state was bent of conqest of the world, their crest was hammer on Earth globe. They could either succed,or lost - but if they lost, there would be no more soviet state.
And considering that without lost war they disintegrate, lost war means that there would be not even Russia left.

P.S What China would do ? if soviet start failing, they would probably take Syberia.Poor dudes - first soviets, next chineese.

All will be revealed in time.

With that said, I made an edit to one of the media quotes from Addendum I that will become significant later:

"President Reagan reiterated today in a speech before the White House that the U.S. could not in good faith engage in any diplomatic negotiations with the current Soviet leadership in regards to the nuclear weapon stockpiles of the superpowers after the October 1986 coup and the revelations of the Soviet's extensive biological weapons program. President Reagan also repeated his demands for the Soviets and their Warsaw Pact allies to cease the repressive crackdown on political and human rights in Eastern Europe, particularly Poland and East Germany. The President also reiterated that the sanctions placed by the United States prohibiting the sale of foodstuffs including grain to the U.S.S.R. would remain in place for the foreseeable future until further notice, depending on the future actions of the Soviets..."

--CBS Evening News. January 27, 1988

I.E., the Americans essentially have sanctioned the Soviets hard, much like Imperial Japan in the late 30's. And the Soviets obsession with collective farming as well as inefficiency and horrible mismanagement is continuing to bite their agricultural efforts. A little accident called Chernobyl in '86 didn't help either.

Considering that Ukraine feed Europe from 17th century, when polish magnats hold it,to 1914 when tsar gentry did so,all soviet need is gave land there to capable oligarchs, like those poles or russians who once fed Europe.
And local farmers was treated as shitty as people in kolhoz,so nothing would change for them.
Soviets could fed themselves - if only gave land there to capable oligarchs.

That was Trotsky's plan, problem was that Trotsky had no friends in the USSR.

Becouse he thought that nobody like Stalin is not dangerous, and fought over power with Bukharin and Zinowiew. And all died for their lack of thinking.
But - i t was for the best.I dunno about Zinowiew, but both Bukharin and Trocky would create stronger soviets, and probably take over entire Europe and Africa.
