It literally had scenes where the priest's faith in God is a miserable failure, but the Soviet's faith in Communism repels the monsters.

shrug The priest in question already was questioning himself and his faith long before the episode, and a die-hard communist having faith in his ideology isn't something unheard of. Those were the times.

Did the writers have to use them? No. Was it interesting? Yes.

Point is that it had Left and liberal [edit because I didn't mean Leftist aka Kool-Aid drinkers] messages and themes, but it wasn't a Kool-Aid soapbox until recently, as you're saying it was all along. Old Who was actually a good watch. Now it's just open propaganda.

I'm not going to "great lengths" to lionize goddamn communists and to enable the hurting of Christians' fee-fees. The struggling priest and the die-hard communist were interesting characters because of how they were written.

Newsflash: They were still good stories that weren't overt propaganda. You could agree or disagree with them, and if you can't tell the difference between something that's been part of fiction since its creation and soapbox, open propaganda written as an episode or character, then that's on you.

That overtness only started in the last eight years or so, and it's killed the entire franchise/series.

I can easily say that shows that communism is a cult that brainwashes people while christianity is a religion that allows its members to question itself. That would, in fact, be a condemnation of communism and a virtue of christianity.

Well,Hollywood worked for soviets during WW2.I remember movie about kolchoz where people were happy,well fed,used machines till come bad germans.
