The book is called the Pink Swastika, for those interested. It's about how the nazis were gay, written by the guy behind the Ugandan death penalty for gays bill. Yet ATP would not admit that the writer might have some sort of bias. And his comments about pederasts really aren't accurate: the book frequently blames homosexuals for everything, and claims nearly every nazi is a homosexual. Maybe the book also just conflates gays with pederasts? Wouldn't surprise me.
Seriously, that book is a classic woke franchise though:

So saw the preview of Lord of the Rings on Amazon...yeah, pass. Let's just find new ways to define "woke" and throw it in everyone's face with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. My sister's a huge Lord of the Rings enthusiast (fangirl?) and I don't think she's too impressed with this.
You know, much as I love Al Yankovic's "Dare to be Stupid", I don't think he ever intended it to be an instructional video for Hollywood.

Hmm, the question I always have is what is the list of times somebody has changed a character in a way that made them more them diverse and it has improved the character or the story?
I can think of only a few where it improved stuff:
Turning Magneto into a jew who survived the holocaust( this was added after the character existed). It added so much to his character, and was very well done.
And Turning Poison Ivy into a bisexual w/ regards to Harley Quinn (Harley was basically coded bi in her first franchise she appeared in, so I'm not counting that). Initially this was subtle (a couple of jokes flying under the radar in Harley/Ivy comics (there were a few one offs), but eventually this added a whole dimension to her character exploited to its greatest extent in Harley Quinn the Animated series (which was very good.
Hal Jordan inheriting the Lantern kinda counts, as he replaced the previous one? But I'm not sure that helped develop the character or not, because I don't have a lot of knowledge as to the Green Lantern lore.
Also, in movies there was the turning of that one character in the recent Dune adaption into a woman. I think that helped just with character recognition for the uninitiated. The movie throws a shit ton of characters at you, and being able to recognize one consistently as 'Fremen Woman' really helps.

Perhaps 'improved' is hard to say just because the original is a masterpiece (even if also one that ripped off another masterpiece...I dunnow), but the Magnificient Seven remake rejiggered things to include a freedman, a chinaman, and a native and it felt pretty organic and fit into things without any real problems and was an interesting twist to things (film failed to live up to the original's shadow and is kinda meh, but not because of any particular issues in the characters).

I disagree. It may of helped diverged Harley Quinn herself from her roots as the jokers sidekick. It hurts Poison Ivy because it humanizes her character. Something I think she needs less of to keep her interesting as opposed to her HQ version that was basically just a green Gotham crook instead of this deeply traumatized woman who wants to destroy the world of men for its ecological devastation.
Granted HQ is just a comedic version so its not supposed to be a serious version of the characters. But I tend to prefer Ivy more in the role of a living flytrap for men who destroys them in turn for Gaia's vengeance.
Oh, I agree the HQ version of Poison Ivy was pretty human (probably too human), but her and Harley Quinn have been friends/subtextually together (and not bs english degree subtextually, I mean getting crap by the radar subtextually) since basically the beginning of Harley Quinn as a character. Like there's a comic from 1998 (I think it's Batgirl Adventures) that basically trying to say romance in every way possible while not quite saying it, and it's basically confirmed by the mini comic trilogy Harley And Ivy in 2007.
And it fits fairly well with Ivy's manhating, as it doesn't count cause Harley's a girl, and gives her another man (other than Batman) to focus hate on (Joker). And in general, I like rogue characters interacting more, so I'm all for it.
But honestly, I still can't think of another change that improved things. I never watched either BSG, but I did hear that Starbuck got genderswapped between reboots. Did it help the character somehow? Honestly don't know, I just figured it was a change that happened before wokeness infected absolutely everything, so there was a chance in hell.
Other than that (maybe) and the ones listed above, I can't really think of any. Everything since at least 2015 is going to be done "for representation" instead of for the story, and before that, it wasn't nearly as common and also was frequently (but maybe not always) done for that reason.
I mean, there's also the Fate series, but they did it just so male customers could fuck King Arthur and not be gay, so I'm not inclined to count that.
