"Woke" Franchises

Yeah you are being really passive aggressive, Have fun with that.
I'm trying to remain polite and patient. This is a mostly public forum. It wouldn't be seemly to outright tell you that you're being retarded and lack anything resembling rhetorical skills. I figured being didactical was the lesser of two sins since you had a couple of good points once they were coaxed out of you. But if you'd prefer I could just tell you to eat a dick and fuck off.

The Atreus-Angrboda part of the game was the slowest and most boring part of it. It got a bit more interesting towards the end, with the confrontation of Angrboda's Grandmother but overall, that whole sequence felt really poorly written with forced chemistry and kinda seemed anachronistic with their interactions.

Atreus actually had more more legitimate chemistry with Thrud, both on the missions and in the cinematics. Instead of some random encounter where the Angrboda is collecting plants and saving the animals and automatically taking a liking to Atreus while dazzling him with her wit and charm (though thankfully never approaching Mary Sue territory) Atreus' interactions with Thrud were far more organic.

She opened up about her family with him due to his past interactions with her older brothers from the first games, as well as with confronting Fenris and the bar brawl with Thor and everything. They didn't need any forced chemistry or anything. They practically fell into being best friends and companions and had far more in common. If anything it would've been Angrboda that would've been friendzoned.
It also helps that they were both warriors with father figures with similar personalities. And yes Atreus was a warrior even if it was more akin to the chivieous knights as opposed to the Nordic Vagabond. There is a reason these two are basically the alternate fan ship.

I will say Given how Thurd and her father are both built and given Kratos's genes... the nine realms may want to head for the hills should such a union occur. Those children are going to be larger than life.

Threadban: Don't flame or try to provoke further flames by lobing insults.

Oh boy you went and broke out the thesaurus to complete the image of being a pretentious cunt.

It is no secret that many once great corporations have become hollow shells of their former selves, ruined by incompetence and left-wing ideology. For the most part this is because the people who made those organizations great have left or been forced out, leaving only a mix of fanatical but incompetent DEI hires and greedy short-sited corporate suits. This is why many of our formerly beloved franchises have become woke drivel, because the original creators are no longer in charge.

However, it is occasionally the case that the same individuals that made a franchise great become corrupted by leftist ideology and ruin their own creations.

Thus I am deeply saddened to report the apparent downfall of one of my favorite writers, Brandon Sanderson.

For those who do not know, Sanderson is currently one of the most popular authors in the West, mostly writing sci-fi and fantasy. He has been noted for both the quantity and quality of his work. He is also a Mormon and has previously endorsed the Mormon church's view on social issues.

I have been a huge fan of his for years. I have purchased many of his books and once stood in line until midnight to get my copy of Words of Radiance signed by Sanderson himself.

Naturally enough I was exited for his most recent release, Wind and Truth, the conclusion to his Stormlight Archive series. I thought is would be an epic conclusion to a great series.

I was wrong.

For one the book was culturally leftist, having positive portrayals of transgenderism and homosexual relationships.

Shockingly, the book is also just bad in general.

The writing contains a lot of Marvel/Buffy dialogue, many characters are OOC, the pacing is poor, and characters constantly navel gaze about personal issues that had already been mostly solved in previous books.

I was surprised to say the least. Especially since I know that he can write well. The Way of Kings and The Emperor's Soul remain some the best books I have ever read.

Having done some research I have found that Sanderson began to change his stances on social issues back in 2023, expressing regret for his formerly conservative views as well as advocating that the Mormon church "evolve" its stances about things like transgenderism and homosexuality.

This also coincides with the beginning of his drop in writing quality.

While I hope this will be a one off incident and Sanderson's future works will be good, his recent comments on the matter indicate against it.

Another great franchise gone woke.

Well you can’t expect much from Mormons they have shoddy theology. Their religion and prophet is even more corrupt and obviously self serving than the Muslims, they will change for the world.

Never read Sanderson, but being liberal or more liberal doesn't make you a bad (or worse) writer so to speak. Though you did state it coincided with his drop in writing quality which could mean it likely correlates. Still, drops in quality writing aside, doesn't necessarily mean its gone "woke" though YMMV may vary on it.

Probably exposure to pop culture elitism and the like that made him gravitate more towards Leftism. Seems fairly common if you invest in that community long enough it could likely change your political opinions at the very least.

I think part of the issue is that around that time Sanderson's previous editor resigned, and was replaced by team of editors who seem rather young and left-leaning. Aside from the political aspect when an creator becomes big enough it can become difficult for people to tell them no, especially when they are young or inexperienced. That's what happened to George Lucas.

It is a damn shame about Sanderson. I much admired and respected the man, watched his courses on writing on YouTube, and hoped to be like him one day. Now, seeing the very beginnings of him giving in to the proggy zeitgeist (just as it enters its death throes for fuck’s sake) it both saddens me and humbles me.

No one is too big to fall. The worst part is that none of this is forced by editors or publishers as Sanderson is easily big enough to do it himself now, so it is more likely that he has either gotten lost or succumbed to progressive peer pressure.

As for his statement about alphabet soup characters, I answer with “if they don’t fit your story, don’t put them in or else they might break it. You are under no obligation to include them.”

I'd say it is also how you present them that may make a difference.
Sometimes I’d agree with you, but be wary. That can turn into a “thin edge of the wedge” argument.

If they don’t fit, don’t put them in. If the alphabet community is so insecure (which indicates serious mental health issues that ought to be attended to) that they cannot see themselves reflected in everything, they are welcome to write their own stories.

Oh boy...

A crossover between The Boys and Little House on the Prairie is the prequel I didn't realize I needed for me to be interested in watching either of those properties.

Still hoping for the Invincible creative team to helm a crossover Touched by an Angel reboot.
