A few friends or people I wanted to talk to from SB migrated here.
I don't like needing redundant forums, and to be honest I think the existence of this place as a separate forum is probably a mistake. However, people are more important than internet drama, so now I have an account. I suppose it's also beneficial in that it stops anyone else from impersonating me.
To be honest, my hopes are not high, and I'm rather on balance rather angry that some groups on SB have split up over this. But all right - you can PM me here or anywhere else, and conversations can keep happening.

I know you dont see it that way but you also didnt have the frustrations of being a user that many mods worked against and hated like we had for a long time. You are in the inner circle of the staff team, and you and you alone were carefully guarded and shielded by the staff of SB from reputational harm and smears, while the rest of the mods were trashed. Maybe if you were thrown under the bus like the rest of us you would see it our way, but we simply didnt have much option or reason to stay.

Anyone who would throw me under the bus for making an account to talk to some of my more conservative friends - anyone who would throw me under the bus for having conservative friends - was never my friend to begin with.
As I said, personal relationships are more important than internet drama. If anyone is offended by my presence here, my response is "Please judge me by what I say and do, not by the people I know", and also "feel free to PM me or contact me by any other means if you're concerned". My inbox is always open.

Is it strange that my heart stopped a moment and my eyes almost watered at what you said? Because....I don’t usually see people IRL who will say that sort of stuff in-spite of knowing the consequences

I can understand your sentiment. Ideally, it would be better if there was only one forum of this type, so that it would be easier to have vibrant conversations or games and to find people who share interests. Really, most of what I want from a sci-fi and fantasy forum has nothing to do with politically charged conversation and so SB would still be good for that, because it has more members. Though after the fallout from the PM, I can’t help but feel unwelcome on SB and to my sadness, it taints my enjoyment of other wonderful aspects of the forum.
I am here for much the same reason as many others here, don't really want to say much, because I'd rather move past this and not wallow in rancor.

I joined because a mod on SB was warning people not to talk about the sietch, and I was all what's a sietch?
A bit of research later and here I am.
I haven't actually abandoned SB or anything. They still have fanfics I like, media threads I'm interested in, and (more and more rarely) the occasional thing in nonfiction or whitehall that's interesting.
But these last few years whitehall in particular has become incredibly toxic to anyone even slightly conservative.
I've seen Unhappy Anchovy get attacked for being conservative because they weren't declaring that all republicans were evil or that some conservative points might have merit.
The constant purity testing and hostile feelings just made it stressful to be there.
Happy to be somewhere that isn't as extreme in its views and anyone (more or less) can feel welcome.

Constant Purity Testing? Do they actually grill you on your beliefs and look up what you post?
That said, hope this place becomes a substitute....unfortunately not many posters and I don’t think there are many threads that go into two digits in terms of pages.

It's not a regular thing but I have seen both of those things happen, yes.
But mainly it's just constant hostility and dogpiling of anything remotely conservative.
And heaven help you if you say anything that could even be misconstrued as pro trump or pro republican.

I tended once to get stuff from dudes like GuestLurker about how “SJWs don’t exist” when I posted that youtube vid called College Edukayshon.....it parodied modern day western colleges and the only sane guy in that vid wasn’t even white

Also if you hate being mislabeled a conservative, on SB there was a thread with a cumulative thousand search results found of us being called Alt-right, nazi, fascist, racist and white supremacist. There's a thread on SV that has about 3 pages in total bitching about how horrible (and a conservative) you are, so you won't be able to convince at least some people.
Not even two weeks old and over 450 members is astronomical growth.
