Keeping this short and sweet, on the old Warships1 board way back in the dark ages (we wrote on it using clay tablets! Honest!) there was a running joke about how the battleship Fuso was the single ugliest ship with that godawful huge pagoda mast. So a group of us in ICQ and AIM (yes, that old) would joke around with trying to make the longest FUSO scream possible. Zoe was part of that, as was Big Steve.

I mentioned this in my General Introductions thread, but I had decided to walk away from posting on forums late last year; I was just getting more and more angry, and I figured cutting them out of my life would help. Didn't end up working out that way, as I ended up getting sucked into posting on Reddit for a while. I still didn't want to go back to Spacebattles though, as everything I saw while continuing to lurk there made me not want to associate with that community ever again; or at least, not with the vast majority of people who posted in NSFD and Whitehall, and most of the staff.

Then the PM happened, and I finally started posting again on Digital Wild West to express my thoughts on the incident. Someone eventually posted a link to this forum in the thread, and here I am.

I think like a lot of people here, this PM incident was the catalyst for me to join this site. I am a conservative, but I don’t post that often. I was already displeased with the cesspit that Whitehall became after the 2016 election.

This PM and the response after was the final straw. There was no benefit of the doubt. Everyone assumes the worst. No one is innocent. Frankly it is galling that long time and well respected members like @Spartan303 , @bullethead, LC, and Ryguy have had their names dragged in the mud and have been harassed without consequences

When Curtis_Lemay posted that he was moving over here, I jumped ship. I will probably still lurk over at SB, but I see myself being a more frequent contributor over here.

It's a reference to the Battleship Fuso which served the Imperial Japanese Navy. This means Sunhawk and everyone associated with him is a fascist and a literal Nazi.

With that said the Fuso is a very sexy battleship. It's pagoda style bridge/tower is pretty neat.

I joined up because I got contacted by people who had been watching the whole PM debacle closely. That was apparently the last straw for a number of them, especially as they knew me and my reputation. They knew the accusations against me were garbage. And to them I am thankful.

Now I have a new community to serve and be apart of. And Its one I'm proud of. I guess people are hoping I'll go into details about the PM and things concerning it. We will address that at it's own time as it is sort of the 800 pound gorilla in the room. At a time of our choosing. It'll likely need its own thread.

I joined because I've been annoyed with SB for a while and when the PMs went public the absolutely farcical manner in which the SB Admins and Staff responded convinced me that SB was beyond saving.

I was going to set up my own board in response but @Empress_Zoe came along and got the jump on me, so I helped her out instead.

I will though, I was in the notorious PM. Why should I stay at a forum where I am widely hated and maligned, lied about, and forced to remain silent? I had some great times at SB and it makes me sad to leave, I still have friends there who I like a great deal. But I'm clearly not wanted there and perhaps I can find more tolerance and open mindedness here along with discussion of the fictional topics I love.

Because damn this place is a lot more active than it has any rights to be, glad I took a second look.

I rather liked the pre-2018 SB culture before the world went crazy and this is probably the best chance we have of getting that back, assuming we are able to weather the neverending election season.
