People do understand that being arrested like this is basically Antifa's wet dream, right? This does nothing at all to solve the problem and makes it worse. They are effectively cheap martyrs. The way to win this is to resort to as little force as possible, and constantly be in the moral superior position. Law enforcement sinking to the oppositions level is a straight up loss.
And this is on top of this just being ugly and wrong. This isn't how America should act.
'As little force as possible'
to accomplish what? Because the levels of force the city has been exhibiting have actively encouraged this behavior. I would absolutely favor using the minimum amount of force
needed to effectively end the riots and violence.
The problem is, that what will
end this violence, is changing the perception on the part of the rioters,
that their actions will not have consequences. As long as they continue to think that they can get away with this stuff,
they will keep doing it.
That means that they have to
perceive that overwhelming force will be used against them. Make no bones about this, the criminals and potential criminals of this sort
need to be afraid of what the law will do to them for their crimes. That means that demonstration of both force, and the willingness to
use force,
must be a part of actually resolving this.
So long as there is sufficient probable cause or a warrant involved, and so long as they are given due process of law once arrested, as long as the officers identify themselves
as they make the actual arrest, I'm fine with this.
Also, given your comments in posts further down the thread, I suppose you think that plain-clothes detectives riding in unmarked cars are incredibly immoral then? Because that's been a thing for a very long time.
