United States Trump 2nd Term - Planning and Beyond

There is no comparison between gangbangers and insurgents who genuinely believe they are fighting for a holy cause. Its not remotely the same, Also if they started attacking neighborhoods and regular US citizens they will open a box they aren't remotely prepared to deal with.
aren't they already in America killing people, kidnaping them, and invading territory to run as their own little bandit kingdom? that Biden was weak enough to allow such is no reason to continue that policy.

As of now they are just doing regular gang stuff but some of the comments acted like they would wage a literal war on the US citizenry ignoring the sort of reckoning that would result in.

Trump actually rewarding the people who voted for him was also not on my bingo.

Even if those voters are objectively stupid, they are still the real rulers of the Republic and deserve to get the policy they voted for.
Why does Trump doing this constantly surprise people? He did EXACTLY THIS in his first term too, only being stopped from things by the neocons and establishment types around him. Trump's instincts are not that of a politician, but of a BUSINESSMAN, and a BUSINESSMAN works on quid pro quo. His voters turned out for him, got him what he asked for, so of course he's going to pay them back. That literally should be the NORMAL expectation for elected officials, that Trump is one of the few who actually do shouldn't be surprising, it should be refreshing.

Honest question. How was the previous attempts to deal with the cartel when the Mexican government is having a hard time with them?

What then makes it any better to let them deal with it when they're not appearing to deal with them effectively?

Drawing experiences from the past wars the US has been involved in especially in Iraq and Afghanistan?

I honestly think it'll be different for this administration if it does happen simply because what the cartels do next door has more casus belli to interfere and a new administration to learn from the mistakes of the past administrations when it comes to mission creep.
...The Americans were seen as liberators by the majority of people in Iraq and Afghanistan, especially at the outset.

It wasn't until years of Obama mismanagement that things started *seriously* going to shit, and even then, I guarantee you most of the Iraqis would have rather had a permanent American military presence than what's happened since then.

Afghanistan is messier, especially because of what a lot of local 'allies' were allowed to get up to, but there certainly was a fair bit of good will there as well, at least at the outset.

Why do some of you people think that the US rolling up and crushing the worst of the local criminal element like bugs will make everybody mad at us?

Do you know why I'm asking? Cause if the cartel can't be beaten next door you might as well cut a deal and offer them protection money to go poison someone else's country though I have a feeling that's already happening unofficially as your government has a tendency to give away exorbitant amounts of money away for nothing as the Orange One noticed.

However when founding fathers were still alive they didn't do that anymore once they were able to send a navy to give the Barbary Pirates a piece of their mind and eventually made sure they don't need to pay tribute or have their sailors enslaved.

They're focused more on the aftermath of it where everything went to shit.

We can beat the Cartels, They are fighting for money at the end of the day and are just criminals. It's not the same as fighting religious fanatics.
