Michelle Yeoh complains a out type casting into a grandmother role but honestly she is that old. She can't force people to cast her as the young action protagonist forever. No amount of makeup can compensate for aging bones and joints. My grandfather was a master in Kali and Shotokan he had big oversized bones from a lifetime of old school trauma training. Even he could not compensate for the increasing lack of agility and calcification of his bones. The man had fists, knees, elbows and feet of stone dense bone, while he kept much of his power his flexibility and agility were near gone by 65.

Never read that much Tolkien, tbh, I played through a bunch of CRPGs before I even took the time to watch all of lotR, I read the hobbit earlier, but it did not make as big of an impression on me as say some D&D related stuff like Lone Wolf and some other low fantasy stuff with a Conan expy.

Also, mostly everyone around was enjoying WoW at that point...So, blood elves.

My tastes personally go more towards the, shall we call them, non-Tolkien fantasy, like Ashton Smith, Liebner and de Camp and bits and pieces of Gemell and Feist, HPL and Vance, too, in a way, although the Dying Earth or big C are not fantasy exactly.

Fantasy was always a distant forth or fifth genre for me, with the various subgenres of science fiction playing a far more prominent role.

There was a time I read more of it, but it was never the traditional sort, instad I preferred stuff like the Gentlemen Bastards and even that libtard Mieville's New Crobuzon stories.

I like my fantasy darker for some reason.

I even enjoy it mixed with cyberpunk, the way Shadowrun and Shadow Warrior and a bunch of VNs I enjoy do it.

How many more decades will I have to wait before decent book adaptions come back into vogue? They had a golden opportunity with Henry Cavill as Geralt, and they blew it.
