Netflix The Witcher TV Series on Netflix

So ... How does It explain the lower score?
Honestly, I have no idea. Based on every objective metric this should rank way above the first season. The overall plot is better structured and executed. This in turn allows for the subplots to come into their own as well. The actors really have anchored themselves in their roles. I know I didn't have anything good to say about Triss' actress, for example, but she's really done a 180 for me. The scripts are way better then in season one as well, tighter, more focussed. The CGI is leaps and bounds above season one, which helps tons, combined with massively improved costumes, to sell the world. The sets? My god, they finally made use of and constructed some really appropriate and good-looking sets and combined them with real places, where possible.

Is there still tokenism? Yes, though it's less egregious now that the rest of the show has improved so much, so at least for me it doesn't break immersion that much anymore. Are the costumes and the CGI perfect. No, there's of course always room for improvement. The Nilfgaardian armor scheme is now bronze on black rather than having black as the primary color, which is weird, but overall their armor is ten leagues better than what we had in season 1. The Wild Hunt's armor would be better if it was simply copied from the games. Some of the compound CGI shots where they used real places as the base look a bit weird. But given how substantially they have improved upon all of that compared to season one it's almost nitpicky to dwell on it too long. Because now they've actually managed to make it look like a lived-in world.

I for one can't see why this would rate lower than season one. And you know how much I shat over that one...

Different tastes between based Germans and cucky internet journalist critics.

So ok cringey salty cunts = lower score.

Another thing I've noticed is that for the Witcher's first season and Wheel of Time (and in general much of the more woke stuff) how unimpressive lots of the female casting has been, going by their optics. Basically, every cheap Christmas hallmark movie ever manages to come up with prettier, more beautiful actresses than much of the woke stuff. Hell, look at something cheap like Legend of the Seeker, and compare the female leads with the sorceresses of season one (who all ought to look like 90ies supermodels!!!). But just as much of the rest of season 2 has improved, so has this aspect. Francesca Findabhair looks gorgeous, and many recurring others also do genuinely look better than before.

I guess my question is, why is the woke crowd waging a low level war against beauty?

Because deep down they know they are ugly inside, and they want everyone to admire the ugly.
It's just weird that it tends to only cover the female side. I've also noticed that with games for PC and consoles with a bunch of western larger developers. With the Witcher S1 it was just so obviously cringe. These women all should have looked like a classic selection right from the catwalk of a Victoria's Secret fashion show, and most of them didn't even manage to look like the proverbial cute girl from next door.

I don't have backing for what I am about to say, because it's my personal view. The powers to be want puppeted constantly poor and consumeristic obedient identityless masses through complancency, terror, submission, sodomization, fetishzation and amalgamation, with collateral being functional but aesthetically brutal architecture and "uglification" of everything else, with them being the dominant "diverse" (so much diverse it's extremely Caucasian) with the collaborators who keep the downtrodden down in a very totalitarian feudalistic fashion.

Watching S02 now, arrived at episode 3

PROS
  1. LINEAR STORYTELLING FOR FUCK SAKE
  2. Geralt, Ciri and Vesemir
  3. Other actors and actresses
  4. Doesn't bore me
  5. Special effects better
  6. Ambience
  7. It's very atmospheric
CONS

  1. You can see it's a Netflix movie because of certain things and of course I don't like them. Can't elaborate further since don't want to risk someone sees this, recognize me and plasters in every social media.

Hello. I'm with Polygon. I couldn't help but notice you exist and share contrary opinions publicly. I'm doing a story on the influence of the reactionary right and gatekeeping within fantasy fandoms like The Witcher and would like you to comment, provided you give us your name and contact info

If you don't reply within an hour I'll assume you agree with whatever I post about you that I find out after crowdsourcing the research on Twitter and you declined to comment.

I finished the Witcher 2nd Season. It's better but the ending is like meh. Original yes but meh.

Caville's Geralt is still great. Seems a bit of a "walking point of view" rather than being the main character but I think to recall I had the same feeling with the books.

Without spoilers, it doesn't dissapoint but it doesn't surprise or respect and follows the source material either.

The actresses for Yennefer and Triss ARE VERY TALENTED but THEY STUCK OUT like sore thumbs up.

They put a beard on a female dward, which I don't recall in the source material.

The actor for Vesemir is great though.

Henry Cavill is to be replaced by Liam Hemsworth after Season Three of The Witcher is released. So Hemsworth will be Geralt apparently Season Four and presumably onwards.

Henry Cavill, as a known fan of the Witcher franchise, obviously leads to speculation that the reason he might be leaving is due to "creative differences" with the showrunners and producers. Cavill in interviews stated that he wanted a more three dimensional character to portray, to really explore what's going on inside of Geralt's head and so forth, to develop him beyond his entertaining but perpetually fuming archetype from Season One. And his character seemed to get more in depth character exploration in the second season but there's still the rumors he's had disagreements with the showrunners on how Geralt apparently is still portrayed differently in the show, and not focused on as much in the show as compared to the books and of course, the computer games.

Or maybe he just wants to focus on being Superman in the DCEU now that he's returning to that role as opposed to not wanting to portray a Geralt that isn't to his liking.
