Oh yeah. Abbott gifted on being the conservative princeps for years but after DeSantis started actually doing conservative things rather just pretending to yell at the border or abortion every couple of months he couldn't pull it off anymore. He's stayed far enough ahead of the curve to avoid a primary, but his career has reached its end. I won't be sad to see him go. As much of a spineless neocon as Perry seemed to be at least he did good work on Texas' infrastructure.
At least Abbott will boast of being the Lone Star State's 2nd longest-serving TX Governor with 12 years in the TX Governor's Mansion when his 3rd term ends on Tuesday, January 19th, 2027.
Personally, I would love to see Abbott breaking Perry's 14 years & let's just say Abbott somehow wins again in 2026, that possible 4th term would end on Tuesday, January 21st, 2031.
