Id agree everyone was curious and after watching TFA it was like Wow that was awesome and we had that feeling coming out of the theater. Then a few days or weeks passed and the feeling died down and it was more like... Ehhh it was a devent film or maybe just okay.
Then Rogue One came out and despite it being divisive
before with Star Wars fans (especially Dark Forces nerds) I think it was received very well by and large by both casuals and hardcore Warsies (though a minority loathed the film).
Then Last Jedi came out and I assumed people were just hating on it and then I saw it and was like... This isn't good... And I liked the Directors previous film Looper. But ugh... Yeah slayed any future excitement for me.
As for retconnimg the sequel trilogy. I don't care. I'd just ignore it tbh if Im Disney. Draw from it if you want and override it if you want to do something else. I dont think a strictly consistent canon matters all that much tbh. Dont let the sequel trilogy hold one back. But removing it from canon officially? Why bother? Just ignore it if needbe like many fans apparently do.
