Star Wars Star Wars Discussion Thread - LET THE PAST D-! Oh, wait, nevermind

to all the people (on the internet) who are saying they never wanted star wars to continue in the first place and that it "ended with episode 6" where were you guys up until the last 3-5 years? cause the way I remeber it Everyone was really curious or even excited up until the last jedi. That's fine the last jedi was a bad film IMO but retconing real life history just to have some kind of imaginary moral highground is both imature and dishonest.

I played SWTOR very heavily a couple of years ago, but haven't logged in in a while. How are the new updates?

It seems fine to me. Honestly speaking, I only really started playing recently, but I'm enjoying it very much. For all the flak EA and Bioware get, I haven't enjoyed a game as much as I enjoy SWTOR in a...very long time, in fact. It sure beats playing Mass Effect or Command and Conquer for umpteenth time.

And I plan to enjoy it for as long as I can, what with Disney and Lucasfilm tossing a license to Ubisoft. Who knows how long until this last remnant of the EU will remain? I can hope, though. SWTOR is still making money, and AFAIK it's very much a financial success, overall. The SJWs in charge of Lucasfilm might dislike SWTOR not being as Black and White as they insist Star War ought to be, but for their overlords in Disney, all that really matters is making money. So as long as SWTOR makes money, I can hope.

Best money I've spent online in a long while.

As someone who has not played it recently, it is easily a very good game. I have one character through all Expansions last I checked, and everything.

I recommend doing everything possible in it.
The stories are good. Some are better then others of course.
You can be a huge dick of a jedi, or a good guy sith.

It I the last EU thing that is updated and good.

I recommend everyone play it. I would be willing to help others levelup and do multi person quests as well!

Id agree everyone was curious and after watching TFA it was like Wow that was awesome and we had that feeling coming out of the theater. Then a few days or weeks passed and the feeling died down and it was more like... Ehhh it was a devent film or maybe just okay.

Then Rogue One came out and despite it being divisive before with Star Wars fans (especially Dark Forces nerds) I think it was received very well by and large by both casuals and hardcore Warsies (though a minority loathed the film).

Then Last Jedi came out and I assumed people were just hating on it and then I saw it and was like... This isn't good... And I liked the Directors previous film Looper. But ugh... Yeah slayed any future excitement for me.

As for retconnimg the sequel trilogy. I don't care. I'd just ignore it tbh if Im Disney. Draw from it if you want and override it if you want to do something else. I dont think a strictly consistent canon matters all that much tbh. Dont let the sequel trilogy hold one back. But removing it from canon officially? Why bother? Just ignore it if needbe like many fans apparently do. :p

If the bigshots at Disney have any financial sense, they'd clean up all this SJW crap ASAP.
Because they are losing revenue from this Red Plague.

You know your losing money when you cancel your semi-annual dividend.

And combined with the costs from the Fox acquisition, they're going to be in the red soon.
Which is a perfect color for their liberal socialist SJW staff.
GO WOKE, GO BROKE!

Soon to be another victory for Ars Gratia Artis!

That is basically what they are doing

Is that actually a common position? I don't think I've ever heard someone saying "I never wanted more star wars movies".

Honestly, I think the worst part of Rogue one was its name. The mood was a little bit off for a Star Wars movie, but it filled in some plot holes almost perfectly and the pay off at the end was worth the entire movie. So while it is by no means perfect, its flaws aren't' that bad.

I pretty much enjoyed the movie when I saw it. I actually didn't really mind the name.

The name I did mind was: The Last Jedi. When I saw the trailer I thought Disney was about to have something cool go down. And when Luke said the Jedi were about to end, I was thinking that they might revive the grey jedi or something like that. Oh how I was so let down by that movie.

Still I'm hoping they don't fuck up Thrawn. Though I'm not sure how he fits into the new canon now that Palpatine's basically alive now.

I blame Rogue One it for starting the current trend of "hey, have you seen the entirety of Clone Wars and Rebels? No? Then good luck figuring out who all these people are and what they're doing here" that's come up a bunch in the Mandalorian.

Also, it's hilarious that the empire started building the death star and got like halfway through with it before figuring out it didn't have an engine.

Youtube is the worst place to get your Star Wars news. I have never seen Rumint in larger numbers

There was *so much* rumint that Pedro Pascal hated his face being covered and was totally quitting the Mandalorian in a snit over it. . . until it was actually brought up in an interview, and he directly stated that no, he never had a problem with keeping his helmet on, it was absolutely vital to the character.

I dont trust most YouTube on SW unless they are the official star wars channel or few trusted ones

Yeah, and now all the rumint that they are dropping Gina Carano. I do not think they are -- Disney has *not* ever been shy about overtly axing people when they want to. I think her role in Mando Season 3 will be limited because she's going to be one of the primary cast for Rangers of the New Republic, nothing more or less.
