Star Wars Star Wars Discussion Thread - LET THE PAST D-! Oh, wait, nevermind

Excuse me, what.
What a load of bullshit. If Skywalker wasn't able to shoot it, her efforts would be meaningless.

Jyn would have been pretty fucked without that company of Rebel commandos, a squadron of fighters flying top cover, and the entire Rebel Navy sitting in orbit. Credit where due, it was a full scale military operation that she was one part of. A very important part, but not the most important part. I'd argue the cargo pilot was just as vital.

Say, any chances that there gonna be plans for another trilogy in a few years?
In my opinion 100%. We don't live in an age where a franchise is left to sit for a decade or two before being dusted off anymore. Disney paid good money buying that Franchise and they need to show a profit to the shareholders.

My suspicion is that since the Mandolorian is popular, and the movies weren't, the lesson they take will be the typical Hollywood one. Instead of "make good product" they'll decide that movies are "out" and TV shows are "in" this season. We'll see several copycat TV shows most of which will fail because they're not good product and then a return to movies because the failed TV shows will prove that TV is "out" and movies are "in."

They could also take the lesson that Jedi adventures are out and space westerns are in, too. That said if the current rumors of KK doing an end run around the Disney Execs are true it may well be that Lucasfilm ends up in such a clusterfuck that nothing new at all comes out for a fair few years.

If the Disney top brass are even remotely smart they’ll put the breaks on for a minute to sit down and have a good think about what the hell happened to make Star Wars so divisive.

Eh, intelligence people valuing the intel gatherers more than the people who actually did the work makes some sense. I bet intel people in the CIA have a similar position on the Osama raid. It does ignore skywalker getting the plans to the republic though.
I can see this pov but unfortunately, because of SJW bullshit and Disney bullshit. No one has this nuance anymore. What people see is Disney pushing their agenda of emasculating Luke Skywalker.

To illustrate this, Ya boi Zack of Comicsgate fame said that when he see's a feminine male in a manga, he is not bothered by it at all cause thats just manga being manga. if a comic does it, to his mind, its cause of agenda.

And to be frank, seeing what Disney has done to Luke in the sequel trilogy and their continuous humiliation of the old male heroes, its no surprise people see this as yet another Disney move to shit on Luke.

So...does anyone want to complain about the worst aspects of the fandom?

I’ll start off.

SW fans absolutely have no imagination and are wedded religiously to the OT as the entirety for what SW can be.

I’ve sorta noticed that with the occasions Star Wars is mentioned on a show or movie or book

As I have said before, I don’t think many people even know the EU is a thing

Ignorance about the EU is near omnipresent, which leads to misrepresentations and outright falsifications.

Regarding controversial aspects like the Yuuzhan Vong in particular-ignorance and outright dishonesty are so ingrained, explaining the truth is impossible.

Honestly they seem more wedded to Clone Wars in my mind. I see way more fanfics set there than the OT.

"Every one of these movies is a particularly hard nut to crack. There’s no source material. We don’t have comic books. We don’t have 800-page novels. We don’t have anything other than passionate storytellers who get together and talk about what the next iteration might be."-Kathleen Kennedy

I'm pretty sure the First Order & Kylo Ren are expies of stuff from the Star Wars EU

Honestly, this situation reminds me of my interaction with MCU fans like Django on AltHisto who made that Event Horizon fic

He watched MCU but was totally ignorant of much comic history

Many people know Batman & Superman, but somehow I doubt even they read any comics or watched any cartoons

Hell, Duterte compared himself to Batman or was it The Punisher once, I don't think he even reads comics either

Actually you know what? I think there are people who still think the Clonetroopers and Stormtroopers are one and the same

Came across this bit of controversy today when a Star Wars VA had some moderately negative things to say about the Sequel trilogy:

The source is a garbage fire too, some Ethan Van Sciver loyalist replying with the full vid to a post by a trashy "takes" account carrying water for the sequels. Get a load of one of the managers too, always the same darn people...
Unsurprisingly people jumped to their own one-sided conclusions: the Sequel haters acting like he condemned the sequels and apparently some sequel fans had a collective freakout that their precious film was derided.
