Owen and Beru met 3PO and R2D2 maybe once and then never again, were focused on talking to Anakin and Padme, and lastly droids are less than slaves in Star Wars. Why'd you remember a specific piece of furniture that a distant friend or family-member owned?

True for R2D2, but Anakin left 3PO with his mother when he left to join the Jedi; and so was at the Lars farm from the moment Cliegg bought her until midway through Episode 2. While that could have been a couple of months, it could also have been nearly ten years. Furthermore, while you may not be able to identify specific pieces of furniture, you can't talk to the furniture. 3PO converses all the time, it's literally what he's made to do.

That's true, but C-3PO isn't necessarily distinguishable from any other 3PO series protocol droid, and Lars canonically thinks so little of protocol droids that he literally offhandedly orders C-3PO brain wiped when Luke says he might be stolen.

(Note that, having bought him from Jawas, Owen knows damn well that means he's definitely stolen; he just doesn't give a shit.)

See now that I find a more compelling argument, and the one I'd make. In truth I personally never held the Larses not recognizing R2 and 3PO to be a problem, but I can see where people did; and thought that as arguments against that view go, the one that I was replying to was particularly weak.

Stronger by far is what you're pointing out there, that 3PO does look different than the last time Owen saw it (Gold rather than rough metallic) and he clearly treats droids with indifference generally. Personally I find it entirely reasonable to think that he may well have recognized 3PO as a droid like the one his stepmother had all those years ago.

It's actually a little odd to me that C-3PO is apparently identical to mass-produced protocol droids. Anakin kitbashed him together from stuff he found in a junkyard, that's not a construction method that lends itself to standardized builds. Threepio should be rocking parts from at least three different models across his limbs and torso.

Rogue Squadron which is to be directed by Patty Jenkins, has been delayed indefinitely. It was originally announced back in December of 2020 and they are eyeing a potential release in December of 2023. Supposedly they... almost have a screenplay ready but Patty Jenkins apparently has other projects and work in the pipeline, including another Wonder Woman movie.

3PO being built by Anakin was just another thing the writers through in for "It's gotta be linked to Anakin!" without spending a minute in contemplation of what that means for the rest of the canon.
I know it, but I was trying to use a Watsonian perspective. It does lead to an amusing view though, imagine Threepio with a labor-droid's heavy lifting arm on one side, a minelayer droid explosives detection rig on the other, and an Easy-Bake oven built into his chest cavity.

Shmi "He's wonderful Annie! This will be a big help!" *Thinking* At least the oven might be useful.

OK, I feel better now. She directed the 1st Wonder Woman. I had to check b/c I couldn't remember. So....it might be good.
Yeah, I'd rather wait for quality and let her do her thing with Wonder Woman and then focus on RS when she's ready.

I feel she might be able to do it justice, given her background as the daughter of a F-4 pilot who went down in Vietnam, and her work on WW was pretty good.

Gal Gadot for Mirax Terrick anyone?

Y'know, something I'm semi-sorta still sadded out by thanks to the sequel-trilogy is that I was unaware of or just completely forgot this was even in development just because of how rarely I peek into Disney-Wars and it's something twelve year-old me would've been nerding out over.

But, to avoid circling that drain of a topic once again, on the bright side, that means it doesn't bother me much when I hear about stuff like this.

I have to admit, my first go-to when I heard the Wonder Woman -> Rogue Squadron connection was Gal Gadot as Isard. Give the bangs a dye-job and whip up some contact-heterochromia and you got the appearance pretty well lassoed. After that it's just a matter of acting. I, for one, think Gadot would be able to pull off Isard's whole conspiratorial dommy-mommy thing pretty convincingly.
...
Let's all just pretend I didn't just write that last sentence.

Nah, we have ScarJo for that; she'd make a much better Isard after the way she handled Black Widow.

Also, the need to get RDJ for Talon Karrde, the man is perfect for it.

IMO, ScarJo is the only person in Hollywood who competes with Cucumbers Bandersnatch for being grossly overused. At this point, I pretty much don't want to see her in anything again until she hits the next age bracket of roles.

Also, the need to get RDJ for Talon Karrde, the man is perfect for it.

I don't see it; Karrde never struck me as the 'smooth operator' type that RDJ does.

I think it would let him break type casting a bit, and give him a role that lets him have fun as he ages, since Karrde isn't into heavy phycial stunts but can do fight scene once in a while.

Maybe he could be Booster, but I feel that's a stretch.

That would actually underscore why the Lars didn't recognize him, on top of their cultural disdain for droids -- the last time they saw him, he was a slightly mismatched kitbash, but his parts were regularized after Anakin took him back and gave him to Padme.

I am not an expert on acting, so I can't judge Gadot's acting. Though I don't see her in Star Wars because she is Israeli. Translated it means you will have trouble either :

  1. It will be difficult to sell a movie with a Israeli actress who served in the IDF and very vocal about it to any country who has even a small beef with the Jewish state, so anywhere from Morocco to Indonesia will be an issue.
  2. If it is not going to be difficult, the above countries will not let the film be shown.
I say this because it's pretty much obvious Disney doesn't want to make a lot of money, they want to make ALL the money POSSIBLE.

I mean, they probably wouldn't care. China and the US are the big money makers
