Hes very lucky he was foiled.
Apparently he showed up at the house, walked around for 30 minutes, came back, then called 911 to dime himself out. Mind you, there were U.S. marshals keeping watch, so if he had tried anything, they’d have intervened.
But still. McConnell just ripped Pelosi a new one, especially since the Senate
unanimously passed a bill to provide security for the Justices and their families about a month ago, but the House hasn’t done jack yet.
Why, he would have been tried in DC, and the people there would acquit him, and give him a medal.
Would have been federal, not local -DC is kind of odd because it’s ultimately under control of Congress, they just delegate the local stuff to a mayor and city council. But they’re only empowered to handle non-federal crimes -anything that is a federal offense is automatically handed to the feds, unlike, say, Maryland, where you could be hit with a state charge first. And even then, assassinating a Supreme Court Justice would cause such an uproar that the feds would
have to get involved.
