Anime & Manga RWBY General discussion thread.

Of course, but I never said you cant like it. We're not arguing about you liking it, or even if it's good. We're arguing about what happens on screen and what it implies. Don't conflate different arguments with each other.

RT is doing abysmally. I predict a dissolution, mass layoff, or complete restructuring by their parent company within two or three years.

Ruby's voice actress cannot scream to save her life, which is a shame, because the writers decided to use "Ruby Screaming" as a recurring benchmark in the series.
That is the only downside to Lindsey Jones

Well..it wasn't really the most willing
We really dont know if it was willing or not, people react as if it's this big horrible reveal when all we've seen is that he gave Raven and Qrow a minor superpower they never have to use unless they want to. It is treated as bizarrely sinister in the show, and never given any kind of sinister context to match that reaction.

I think because it was implied to be painful?

My I ask why the trailer has you so disappointed?

It is hard to explain, it is a feeling. But I would wager it lacks that spirit that original had, the sort of energy. I guess it just overall fails to grab me, or even hype me at all and instills the opposite feeling.

I find it very humorous that the last season had general ironwood flee the city as if it was completely lost, the combined military might of Atlas was completely laughed off by the first wave of Grimm, hundreds or thousands of truck sized monsters that can smash through buildings rampaging through the streets, completely unchecked by any kind of police force...
And *then* a much bigger wave of Grimm arrives, a giant city destroying whale monster and invincible wizard god at the front, after the rest of the military completely gives up.

And what do we see on the trailers. The kids goofing around, joking, playing with gadgets, having a great time.

... in my defense, I’ve been trying to forget how dumb V7 was, mostly because the stupidity of it was just painful to me.

I liked V7 for Maiden scenes, Jaune getting better, and fights against Grimm

If Penny can be a maiden despite being a chunk of a man's soul in a mannequin, does that mean anyone who identifies as a woman can be a maiden?

Considering RT wrote Gen Lock, the gay otherkin mecha Anime, I'm going to say yes.

Gay otherkin mecha anime? I didn't know it went that far, I thought it was just kinda gay...

Don't forget a predatory transsexaual pushing another minority main character into thinking she might be trans too.

Of course, and let me guess they saw nothing wrong with it?

I think that falls under the umbrella of Gay Otherkin behavior.

I'll take your word for it.

This definitely explains RWBY's drop in quality. Especially with the addition of a Gay Otherkin into the mix...

Gen lock is a different series where you pilot a robot with your brain but if it's not shaped right it doesn't work well so the tranny needs a girl one the furry needs a furry etc because that's who they "really" are mentally.

I... am reasonable certain this is not why the use of the mech is restricted. Rather it was some sort of rare gene or brainwave which was why the military was willing to overlook the... let's say irregular personalities most pilots possessed.

No, because unlike Gen loc rwby has somewhat better written world.

Wait what?

Also apperently Miles may no longer be working on RWBY possibly not even for RT.

I think we’ll wait for maybe 2-3 years after Volume 8 for the reboot

And hope the creators or new team are in a good headspace and able to handle criticism and really plan things out from the start

Also maybe NOT shit on Ozpin
It's not possible to write a "Battle School" story without making the school staff horrible. The experienced teaching staff who have years of experience in dealing with such things will otherwise handle all the problems and the students you're using as focus characters will have no adventures.

There's two options for "Battle School Adventure" stories. Either the staff are malevolent/incompetent so students have to solve the problems, or you wait until the students graduate in which case you lose your "High School" vibe that you're using to appeal to high schooler watchers. You can try to have only staff-sanctioned adventures like field trips and such but that lowers the stakes, there's the feeling that if things get out of hand the competent staff with handle it so it doesn't work well.

The otherwise completely generic and bland anime Hundred actually takes a mildly interesting third path of not having any educators in their battle school. We never see the inside of a classroom, the student council apparently handles all the logistics, curriculum, and planning, and if there's a headmaster said entity is offscreen at all times.
