Russian Invasion of Ukraine 2022

Good on the Russian soldiers who showed human decency during a horrific time. Yes, they hypothetically could have done more, but to basically go against orders and resist your own side? That requires uncommon bravery. To few people will stand up to people on their own side, and in war, that number drops even further.
Another account of the depredations suffered by Ukrainians being liberated. This one alleges some of the ethnically Russian forces were more accommodating then the ethnically Tuvan troops who engaged in abuse and looting of the local population more liberally.
It does go a long way to demonstrate the old adage of totalitarian governance - if you want soldiers or police to really crack down on the local population, bring foreign troops. Troops who look similar, have similar customs and speak similar or the same language are more likely to have empathy for the civilians and even talk things out with them.

Good thing we have actual confirmation that it could only have been A Ukrainian Tochka-U

Bloomberg talks about the latest American aid package:

Biden Announces $800 Million Weapons Package for Ukraine in Aid Against Russia - Bloomberg

The package will for the first time include 18 155 mm Howitzer artillery systems, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Wednesday.
The U.S. will also send 10 counter-artillery radar systems, 200 M113 armored personnel carriers, 100 Humvees and 300 more Switchblade drones, according to a list released by the Pentagon.

Wait, what was that?

200 M113 armored personnel carriers,

No Strykers? No Bradleys? Nope, it's the mighty M113 Gavin. Combatreform FUCKING vindicated!

Eagerly awaiting the Ukrainian counterattack on Donbass spearheaded by the Aerogravin attack from on high.

You do know the Russians still use the Tochka U right?
Like VERY well known and there is video proof it is Russian or Russian supplied separatists that launched it.

Also, M113s are useful. More useful then a BRDM I would say

Why do you repost shitty, verifiably wrong propaganda?
>Russia doesn't use Tochka-U anymore
>Trash opinion is trash
Oh my, why would Ukraine intercept own missiles? Especially when NATO isn't going to send them spare TBMs.

Apparently Ukrainians are so good at special operations that they have painted Z's on their Tochkas, drove them to Belarus with their whole support vehicle convoy on a major road and fired them at Ukraine for false flag strikes, and no one noticed. That makes the shit CoD player characters and spy movie protagonists do look tame. Welp, at least now we know why there's a war about whether Ukraine will be allied to the west or Russia. Look how much Russia sucks at special operations without Ukraine on its side. If Ukraine joins NATO, China will have no chances, they are going to just kidnap the whole CCP and drop them into the ocean from helicopters.

Notably they are better armored than the commonly used BMPs. Especially the upgraded versions, those can even have ERA, which BMP's can't, they don't have sufficient underlying armor to survive ERA explosions even. Sure, they don't have the BMP's cannon with its disappointing accuracy, but on the upside they are protected enough to make it worthwhile for infantry to ride on the inside rather than on the outside, a big plus for an armored transport.

I mean, the US still uses the M113 fir command vehicles

Well...I was not expecting this you fine ladies and gentlemen of this thread. But the Moskva, flagship of the venerated Russian Black Sea Fleet and part of project 1164, has suffered a terrible accident due to 'its ammunition accidentally detonating'. This is a major asset of the Russian Black Sea Fleet that is just gone and will result in the Black Sea Fleet's capabilities to be severely degraded from this.

As a result of a fire on the Moskva missile cruiser, ammunition detonated, the crew was completely evacuated, the Russian Defense Ministry said:

Yeah I heard the reports earlier but it seemed hard to believe, especially since the Ukrainians we're the ones claiming it. But with the Russian MoD also confirming an "ammunition explosion" seems likely it was caused by a Ukranian strike... Which is still surprising. It has significant anti air defenses of its own and in port one would've assumed that air defense would be... better considering the last missile strike.

It's last refit was functionally 30 years ago, and given what we know now most of the money for that was probably embezzled.

Russian state media confirm that the ship fucked off, or at least the crew fucked off from the ship, which indicates that its fate is sealed. Though their official explanation is ammunition explosion due to a fire, without specifying what started the fire.
Ukraine claims that they have started the fire with 2 of these:

To add to this, one of the OSINT accounts is saying that Ukrainian forces used a TB2 drone to distract the Moskva. And then used this distraction to hit the Moskva with a Neptune cruise missile…I probably should not say this due to my lack of military background. But this is a very simple tactic, correct? Does that not mean a trained crew should have been able to deal with this?

Bold of you to assume that Russian Navy crews are well trained.
Russian Navy... has a history.

An apparently very valuable Russian Radar System was left abandoned in the Chernihev Oblast.

*Chernihiv Oblast

Interesting little video with a NATO consultant analyzing things like Bucha and how the USA and the west west in general basically did everything in its power to goad Russia into this.
Zelenski is a powerless puppet, and if he pisses off the Nezi morons in the country it is off with his head.
Oh, and he reiterates the same ideas stated before by multiple sources about Russia's objectives and mode of warfare.
But hey, the Usual Suspects and armchair idiots will probably ree and disregard it, so I wonder why I even bother.

Puh-lease! This war was Putin's choice from the very beginning. Ukraine's NATO membership wasn't going to happen in the near-future and even in the farther future was not a guaranteed prospect, but in any case, Ukrainian NATO membership would not have been any more threatening for Russia than Baltic NATO membership is. Certainly not worth going to war over! But Russia expected a quick win and the regathering of the Russian lands:

Russia thought that it could easily increase its human capital by 35 million people but badly miscalculated in regards to this. Another historical Big Brained Russian move, similar to fighting for Serbia in 1914 and the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact in 1939.

Bold of you to assume that Russian Navy crews are well trained.
Russian Navy... has a history.

Maybe. It always seemed harder to sink in the Combat Simulators with its SIXTY FOUR S-300F GRUMBLE MISSILES! And the short range SAM's.... and the CIWS... and... and... and... the Crew was always set to the highest difficulty setting to be make more fair... Oh... yes I see now.

Anyways... in other Happy News.

How it started...

And how it might be going... again... in Kherson.

Those airfields...

BMP-3 armor - 35mm
M-113 armor - 44mm

Wikipedia said:
In the U.S. Army, the M113 series have long been replaced as front-line combat vehicles by the M2 and M3 Bradleys, but large numbers are still used in support roles such as armored ambulance, mortar carrier, engineer vehicle, and command vehicle. The U.S. Army's heavy brigade combat teams are equipped with approximately 6,000 M113s and 4,000 Bradleys.

😏

The P630 Neptun is Ukraine's improved version of the Kh-35 Uran, a.k.a. the "Harpoonski". Given that the coast defense battery uses a single quad launcher TEL, I'm willing to bet they fired a full salvo and two got past the CIWS -- unlike Varyag, Moskva doesn't have the improved Kashtan CIWS system, just the basic AK-630s.

Summary of the latest batch of US Weapons to be sent to Ukraine.

18 155mm Howitzers. Most seem to be assuming it's the M198's America has in stock. And forty thousand rounds of artillery ammunition as well. Maybe they wanna see how precise their Howitzers are under Ukrainian operation considering how effective Ukraine has been with indirect fire in this war already. Plus the artillery radars.

The seventeen helicopters were allegedly for Afghanistan originally.

And 200 M113 APC's and a hundred Armored Humvees. Ukraine has a fair number of Humvees already but I dunno how many are the uparmored version.

I wouldn't say Simple.
The TB2 is to small for long range SAMs. So they were probably trying thier hardest to find it.
Distracted the Neptune launched
