Russia-Ukraine War Politics Thread Mk. 2

Normies don't care about hegemony, they care about the price of bread. I wonder if tanks rolling across Europe's breadbasket might have any impact on that...
What is affecting prices are the Russian drones and artillery shells targeting the grain silos and ships. Russian pirates hijacking grain ships, Russian tanks and soldiers massacring Ukrainian villages and farmers.

No you're wrong. I've done tons of work in this industry, we run stats to actively weed out hyperpartisan types as they are outliers and skew any poll in obviously wrong directions.
"There are 3 types of lies; lies, damn lies, and statistics." - Mark Twain

Stats and polls say what the people behind them want them to say, it's just a matter of how much massaging the numbers and equations till the group gets the desired result.

This guy is on the US Intel committee, and gets briefings on this, so this is fairly trustworthy analysis of the situation.

Ukraine has achieved a 10:1 kill ratio against Russia, and destroyed 87% of Putin's pre-war forces.

And Russia is losing this war, and will lose unless the coalition supporting Ukraine crumbles.

He's a profesional Poli.

I wouldn't trust him if he said the ground was made of dirt.

Sorry, that's over the top.

On the subject of Ukraine/Russia, I can beleve that he's got access to more info to me, and it's likely to be more accurate.

But, that doesn't mean he's saying anything true to the People.

He's on the Intel subcommittee, who would have the best access to intel about what is going on in Ukraine.

He's also has very little reason to hold back in his effort or information to get the aid funding to Ukraine passed.

Should be 500 billion dollars, with 450 billion of that going towards Taiwan's defense.

Hahahaha.

Oh wait. You're serious.

...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
He gave copies to ever Member of Congress and is asking Biden, publicly on commercial platform, to DECLASSIFY INFORMATION so it can be publicly discussed and responded to by not just the American public, but our allies as well.

When was the last time you heard of anyone on the US Intel committee asking for anything close to this?

Statistics can definitely be used in bad faith to say what the person wants, only domain experts should consider stats and make decisions based on them. Polling isn't necessarily the same thing though, for instance it's pretty hard to skew the truth behind "does the average person support a closed border" the same way it is something like "are black americans killed by police more than whites?" The only lies you can really get away with there are lies in the sample itself, which is again hard to do with such a straight forward question.

Anyway, this is irrelevant to the conversation because we were simply discussing whether or not normies participate in polls and they very much do. Even leaving aside that pollers control for non-normies, most political types assume pollers are acting in bad faith in my experience. Meanwhile normies think its a chance to really be heard by their politicians.

And if you ask the same question in 2 different locations, say a rural farming town on the border and in princeton university, you'll get 2 very different result sets.

Which is why you ask in both, and more places, to create an accurate sample. Do you think that this isn't what happens? Again though, this is a red herring and not what I was talking about in my initial reply anyway. I'm not in anyway saying that people don't use these in dishonest ways, I literally just said normies take polls lmao
