Middle East Running Iranian threat news and discussion thread

The first of Iran's two new (drone) Aircraft Carriers (the Shahid Mahdavi and Shahid Bagheri) Expected to Launch in 2023. It is a 240 meter long vessel built upon a merchant cargo vessel hull but still a marked increase in Iranian Naval Capabilities. It's also expected these vessels will be able to deploy and operate helicopters as well.

Well, that's a couple more targets for Preying Mantis 2.0.

Sounds like a very useful tool for asymmetrical warfare, where you're facing an enemy without similar abilities to strike at a distance.

...Are the Iranians planning on taking their own turn at invading Afghanistan?

'Cause for everyone else, it's going to be a glorified target.

You are looking the wrong direction; Iran wants to fuck up the Saudi's and fuck with the Suez.

Yeah, but the Saudis have equal or better military technology. This shit is an over-sized over-priced missile silo that will get one set of launches off if the conflict there goes hot. The Saudis will sink it in the opening engagements of the war.

I never said it was a smart idea.

They plan on doing more black ops in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, and against civilian shipping in international waters.

Saudis, probably, while staying comfortably away from them in hope their incompetence stops them from doing something violent against their ship. Egypt, on the other hand... If so this ship has a good chance of eating a Harpoon or Exocet in near future.

Speaking of shit Iran does:
Olivier Vandecasteele, 41, was arrested during a brief visit to Tehran in February and accused of espionage.
On Wednesday, his family said they had been informed of his sentence at a meeting with Belgium's prime minister.
There was no confirmation from Iran, but the news comes days after Belgium's constitutional court halted a controversial prisoner exchange treaty.
Iran wants to swap Mr Vandecasteele for its alleged top intelligence official in Europe, Assadollah Assadi. He was given a 20-year jail sentence in Belgium last year for plotting to bomb an exiled Iranian opposition group's rally.

Iran has been doing this kind of shit for a long time, their theocratic regime was kickstarted by taking entire American embassy hostage to facilitate exchange for the deposed shah.

Funny thing about the recent Russia-USA exchange is that originally the arms dealer was supposed to be exchanged for american spy, but at the last moment SD changed it to the stoner instead.

And soviets keep arresting tourists before that.

Brownie points for the liberals who care about skin color the most.

"Aid worker'' yeah i'm sure the glowy was there to ''aid'' the people of Iran😂
I get that the sietch has a high number of neocons but this level of simping is just lol tbh🤡

I too kinda laughed when I saw.

Not a big fan of the IRI.

Reason ?

Well I have soft spot for the feminine side MENA... lately for this country. So things like affection and dancing (which I like considering I am Brazilian and Galician) is like big NONO for Tehran.

Yeah it is banal.
