Amazon Prime Rings of Power: Lord of the Rings on Amazon

Ugh. No, it does not. In fact, I have hard time deciding whether RoP makers are simply clueless, or are actively malevolent and intentionally disrespecting the source material.
The latter.

If you look at the behavior of the cast and crew, especially the writers and producers... they're all Leftist ideologues. They are the cancer which rots any show they touch or work on.

Hell, the woman who plays Galadriel had a public freakout/meltdown about supposed "racists" on soc-med.

I mentioned Tolkien Untangled's take on a Second Age television series a few days ago. Yesterday, the final part was posted:

This is how it could and should be done. As I already said: when you view this sequence of YouTube videos -- which display real love for, and loyalty to, Tolkien's ideas -- it becomes impossible to genuinely claim that The Rings of Power is in any way representative of Tolkien's work.

Maybe I quit the show too early...

I remember seeing one of the LotR movies recently and being surprised by the lack of "diversity". There were no blacks or asians or whatever beyond the pirates and the Haradrim, and I liked it that way. All this inserting of foreigners in scenes where they don't belong just makes the scenes unnatural. Nations are not a melting pot, no matter how desperately these scumbags want to try and pretend otherwise.

A show with a setting around the middle millennium of the third age would be much more interesting, with the kin-strife ; Gondor's wars with Umbar, Harad, Khand and the Wainriders ; the northmen ancestors of Rohan ; and all that was going on with the breaking up of Arnor and the Angmar wars. Even the Lossoth people of the frozen far north could have played into the story. Would have made for a much more interesting show, with the source material they could use, and with plenty of different groups of people.

A second age show should never have been attempted without the proper rights. Which, the Tolkien family has been withholding to prevent just the kind of monstrosity that amazon went and created anyways on bits and pieces.

Big news for Spider-fans!

Young Shelob will show up in Rings of Power.

If her cameo really takes off, maybe we'll get a spinoff?

I wonder if they'll get a new actress to portray Shelob the Great or do more potentially cringe de-aging CGI?

Is there no end to this?

Could be worse. We could be getting Stupid Sexy Shelob from Middle Earth Shadow of War.

This is fair.

Mind you, Stupid Sexy Shelob in that game was tolerable in that the game and its producers were under no delusion they were in any way part of the canon, much less pushing a message of 'modern values for modern audiences'.

*spits*

They were just making a game enjoyable for a target demographic, and make money out of it.

Ungoliant WAS a shape shifter she just settled on the spider shape.
But Shelob, to the best of our knowledge wasn’t.

In this case it seems acceptable IF the LOTR world works like our own and the offspring of creatures, be them humanoid or not, take SOME of the characteristics of their parents and forefathers.

THOUGH I don't think in any way shape or form Tolkien himself, Tolkienists and Tolkien fans have ever spoken on the matter.
