Musk actually buys Twitter.

Musk is their nightmare.
  1. He's as rich as fuck and can burn entire fortunes on whims, like he's doing with Twitter/X. They can't play the typical game of financially outlasting their opponent because their opponent has just as much, or even more, money as they do
    1. Let's put it this way: It's likely he could outlast Disney at their height, if they tried to tie him up in a court case like they've done with so many other people over inane shit
  2. He's too valuable to the elites, especially in the US government and scientific circles. He ain't going anywhere
  3. He's too big to have the typical "grassroots" or "entity-sponsored" cancel culture bullshit thrown at him. If anything, he can destroy them for even trying it, which he's basically done with what he's doing with Twitter
Basically, they can't do fuck all to him... and it's hilarious. They don't know what to do/how to handle him.

Hell no -- I hope he fucks over the EU and their wannabe 1984 fantasies.
For all his harping on free speech. The moment someone corrects him publicly he uses his position to silence that person on platform. He's just another billionaire with dreams of power. A lying piece of shit I wouldn't trust farther than I can throw him. His pseudoscience bullshit grinds my teeth.

I don't doubt he has flaws, but if it comes down to him or the EU, I'd take him.

Fuck the EU.

Between Elon Musk and the EU, I'd take... no more centralized social media platforms. Seriously. I'm sick to death of governments thinking they have a right to play nanny over people's speech online. There should be a means by which people can simply cut out the middleman, load up a peer-to-peer client, and share posts with each other directly, in a distributed and censorship-proof manner.

The culture that would have allowed this to happen died its final death in the 90s.

Elon is not as good as we'd hoped.

He is still worlds better than what was before him.

The problem with this is that the wests leadership is well pretty god awful and getting worse.

And a small part of them understands their shit at their job and their terrified of losing power, which means they want to hold onto it at any price and thats a downward spiral of suck.
