...yall do know the stuff we are sending to Ukraine is DoD funds right? They arnt funds they can just send anywhere...
Like fucking hell.
It's a Democrat state, that is SOLID blue. They didn't need to start a forest fire to get that land.
Just because some guy in a suit says "Nope can't give money" doesn't make it morally right....yall do know the stuff we are sending to Ukraine is DoD funds right? They arnt funds they can just send anywhere...

Exactly thisJust because some guy in a suit says "Nope can't give money" doesn't make it morally right.
How come infinite funds can go to foreign and questionable DoD projects, but a pittance goes to actual Americans?

Most of what is going to Ukraine is already bought and paid for Cold War surplus.Exactly this
We've sent more than $130bn in aid. Now we are sending jets, tanks and cluster munitions. Most of what is going to Ukraine is already bought and paid for Cold War surplus.
But little tidbits like that don't matter to those who want to use any domestic incident as 'why are we helping Ukraine and not X', even if X is in no way related to Ukraine's aid.
Like, I never see you guys asking why we should continue to fund oil subsidies to protect the profit margians of oil companies, or the corn susbsidies to put high fructose corn syrup in everything, which take up a lot more cash in the US economy than the DoD does.
Most of the material aid is, though; outside some newer bits like the Switchblade systems and some of the optics, most stuff being sent is Desert Storm vintage and older. Most newer stuff simply has too many bits we don't want to risk Russia/China capturing. We've send more than 130 billion in aid. Now we are sending jets, tanks and cluster munitions.
The "it's just cold war junk" line doesn't add up.
Why not both? Most of the material aid is, though; outside some newer bits like the Switchblade systems and some of the optics, most stuff being sent is Desert Storm vintage and older. Most newer stuff simply has too many bits we don't want to risk Russia/China capturing.
The aid on the financial side is still less than we spend as a nation on fucking oil and corn subsidies, and those are bigger parts of the US domestic economy than even the MIC is.
Why must money for domestic stuff come from cutting DoD funding and aid, instead cutting subsidies of the corpo's who are actually screwing over US civies domestically?
Because Russia has gone retarded (including rhetoric about retaking Alaska now in some media), the CCP are not shy about their designs on Taiwan, the Kim family are insane, the Ayatollah keeps trying to close the Straights of Hormuz, the border needs Army Guard units protecting it as much as CBP officers, the Coast Guard/Corp of Engineers is a direct help to US civies in peace time, and most of all because military tech/production edge, once lost, is very hard to regain without massive loss of life beforehand. Why not both?
You just brought up a bunch of different leaders and potential conflicts to explain to me why we should send tanks, jets and minutions while spending billions in Ukraine.Because Russia has gone retarded (including rhetoric about retaking Alaska now in some media), the CCP are not shy about their designs on Taiwan, the Kim family are insane, the Ayatollah keeps trying to close the Straights of Hormuz, the border needs Army Guard units protecting it as much as CBP officers, the Coast Guard/Corp of Engineers is a direct help to US civies in peace time, and most of all because military tech/production edge, once lost, is very hard to regain without massive loss of life beforehand.
The world is not a kind place to those who fall behind the curve militarily, that has been a lesson throughout the ages and across the planet, including in Hawaii itself less than a century ago.
Cutting corn and oil subsidies will not endanger the lives the same sorts of cuts to the DoD and/or aid for Ukraine will.
Anyway, diffrent thread, my bad for the derail.
I still doubt this was a plan by the dems.
They may be taking advantage of it though.
@Rocinante @Bacle we can move that conversation to a Ukraine thread

113's ironically might have been of some use trying to protect residents, due to the CBRN gear they can have onboard in some models. But I want to hear about how M113's and DPICM could be used better in Maui than Ukraine.
When either through incompetence or malice the police set up a roadblock preventing civilians from escaping the fire, they’d have had a much harder time of it if the citizens had an arsenal of Cold War leftovers. But I want to hear about how M113's and DPICM could be used better in Maui than Ukraine.

It's a pretty fair comparison to bring up that our president has sent 130bn to Ukraine with no problem, plans to send more, with at least 30bn more set aside...but wants to send $700 to our own people in a crisis. It's not just you though; the post above your first was/is the first to try to make it a 'aid Hawaii or Ukraine' issue.
When people who complain about Ukraine fucking up every thread also like to use meme's at Ukraine's expense as arguments for 'non-Ukraine' topics, it shows that what they want is the ability to dunk on and spit on Ukraine when they want, but not have to see the topic in ways they don't like outside the 'containment' threads.
It's a blatant double standard they want to force; meme's at Ukraine's expense are fine outside the containment threads, pushback against them is not, is what it seems like a lot of the time.

We can, of course. Any time Ukraine gets brought up it spins into a derail, even if it's related to the topic, as it was in this case as a fair comparison of spending. In any case, can we focus on the police roadblock issue?
