Nah pretty much just the mountains. breakthroughs are hard and rely on tanks and air support. mountains fuck with that and even with our power projection capabilities needing to support that on the other side of the world is difficult to say the least. add in that they got a population ten times that of Afghanistan and are actually able to build shit that is dangerous even if not up to our standards and you got why it would be dumb to treat them like the last couple of kerffufles in the middle east. Afganistan we never really had full control of because of their mountains. Iraq was just flat plains and was super easy to roll over. not even getting into the differences in local cultures between the 3 nations.
