I know it is a catchy meme, but it really wasn't instruction manual. Orwell knew what was going to happen because elites had been planning it for a long time.

The actual society is being manufactured with Brave New World rules. Hedonism mades for a easier cage to maintain the cattle in, even if the initial investment is higher.

Back when wokism started getting steam, someone wrote a piece claiming that while future dystopia would begin with the hedonism-bred apathy of Brave New World, it would give way to the fanaticism of 1984. I happen to agree with that

I suddenly feel a desire to write a sci-fi novel about an engineer who builds a swarm of self-replicating nanobots that go out and cure cancer, but as a side-effect, exterminate SJWs or something.

At this point im pretty sure the size of americas government is a major factor in damaging economic growth.

Because modernity is a race to the bottom when it comes to that issue because countrys encourage the growth of the state to beat their rivals which means other people must increase state power in the name of national survival.

In previous historical cycles this goes on until the civilization collapses into empire.
