Because we're giving you a chance to convince us using some actual sound logic. It's your own fault if you illustrate that you can't even think for yourself by basically just pointing at the Bible. "Why do we need a secular argument?" Because if you're going to convince someone who doesn't share your religion, you need one to even attempt to convince them that you aren't just trying to force your religion on everyone else. And if you're going to try to make something into law, you damn well better have secular arguments for it.

And the fact that people are still arguing about this shows that my version of that discussion is pretty accurate.

Again sin is a religious term. If you are an atheist you don’t believe in sin. Someone says something is a sin then you ask why then they show you where it is in religious documents or other authority. Then you say you aren’t religious. Like you shouldn’t have asked why it’s a sin then.

Why do we need a "secular reasoning"? Again what exactly do you think the point of religion is? It has two to serve as comfort and give us an afterlife, and the second is to give us morals tell us what is right or wrong. If there is no God then everything is permitted why should we oppose the groomers and the LGBT, or incest why stop it "because of your nebulous social good"? As long as they don't go after me specifically or my family that don't want it. Let people do what they want if it feels good and doesn't immediately cause harm like killing or maiming.

Yeah, sure, a lot of secular people are complete morons who couldn't list a single principle or moral in their bones.
But the same goes for religious people, I'm not too impressed on either field.

I do agree that functionally 'consumerism' has replaced religion for many people, but that goes for the christians/muslims/jews/etc as well.

I think I saw some stats on this site a little while ago on that very subject. And I'm going by memory so I might be off a bit so forgive me for that.

I believe it was something like crime statistics for people in religious positions sexually abusing children being about 210 for a given year. Absolutely terrible of course. It needs to be as close to zero as possible.

And then the statistic of public school teachers sexually abusing children. Which was about 29,000 that same year.

There is of course some statistical stuff happening there. Many more teachers than priests and such. But there certainly hasn't been as much of a push from the media to attack or hold schools accountable for this nearly as much as they attack churches.

In fact schools are where they defend the most as they can groom kids there right under their parents noses if they aren't paying attention.

And if the parents complain the fbi labels them terrorists and harass them like they did in Virginia and call people various ists and phobes for trying to stop drag queen story hour and all ages school sponsored drag shows...

I don't doubt that religion probably smoothed some behaviors here and there, but secularism isn't the source of modern problems. It's a symptom.
