That and the British admiralty was also basically screaming "don't pick another fight with the US" at Parliament because they knew that it took a ship-of-the line and/or several frigates just to contain one American warship which might decide to randomly raid a port on the East coast of Great Britain ... again.
Didn't they also think our 44 gun frigates were cheating?

Considering that USS Constitution displaces about 2,200 tons compared to HMS Victory's 2,162 tons and 104 guns ... we were cheating.

USS Constitution is also 4-5 knots faster.
American "heavy frigates" back then were basically undergunned and very fast battleships which could ignore a British frigate's broadside. British frigate captains were given orders which basically amounted to "Do not engage an American heavy frigate without at least a 3:1 numerical advantage or a nearby ship-of-the line."

Naval warfare was very different back then. No radio, no radar - only way you knew where the other side's ships were - or even your own side's for that matter - would if they got into visual range.

Most plastics being made from some of the products of refining crude oil.
so...
1. you prevent the oil from being burned. and thus eliminate its carbon emissions
2. you save trees from being cut down
sounds like a win-win for the environmentalists.

speaking of... where is the reforestation?
it's always "grind down the middle class" and "give up human rights for the environment"... never any hint of a whisper about reforestation.

Well, if you're cool with beaches looking like this:

Because it was never about the environment.

Biodegradable biopolymers. Of course, like most actual 'green technologies that don't increase wealth inequality' it gets ignored. Like it's actually renewable, since it can be grown, and since it degrades you don't have to worry about piles of plastic in various and interesting places.

The growing Landowner Elite (Bill Gates is the single biggest farmland owner in the US last I knew, with a number of his economic peers joining in) classes really don't want to make things better for you and me. Why else would they suggest bugs when there's a whole bunch of vertical farming that could be done for about the same cost with a much happier populace? The green movement is a joke. For every one very specific situation that shows their plans work, there's nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine situations where it's subpar.

better than deforestation and the earth literally catching on fire (what they are saying is gonna happen. via "runaway greenhouse reaction")

speaking of. the runaway greenhouse reaction theory is so stupid. it is fear mongering that we can prove won't happen by simply looking at the past... because earth used to have 5%+ co2 in atmosphere during the cretaceous period.

You don't hear so much about reforestation because it's highly successful and thus doesn't generate outrage and clicks.
