Media/Journalism Cringe Megathread - Hot off the Presses

And in today's episode of bad journalism we have Not CNN in the form of Amy Hollyfield of Politifact and the Tampa Bay Times demonstrating a rather.. lacking understanding of how Congress works:

See here's the issue with saying that the Democrats aren't refusing to return from vacation because Congress is in recess, Pelosi is in charge of when Congress comes back from recess and how long said recess is....

As a Californian were pretty much only tolerating her because we have maybe 2 years 4 if we are lucky before the mass retirement of boomers starts. Were already in the hole by a huge amount of money and cant possibly afford to pay the retiring state workers. Our only chance is either a federal bail out (best option) or declare bankruptcy (less ideal) last option is our economy utterly tanks. Both of the early options requires the help of the federal government so we kind of cant get rid of Pelosi because we need her in her senor seat for that hail marry pass.

That said if she fucks up that hail mary pass and our economy tanks the state will turn red.

Looking at the statements, yeah, they were anti-semetic/using anti-semetic tropes. Maybe they were in jest, but they mostly seemed like a lot more than just a jest.

Just having a jewish member doesn't mean you aren't anti-semetic. It's like saying 'I'm not racist, look at my black friend'. The defense a lot of actual antisemites use is hiding behind very left wing non-practicing jews who criticize Israel.

Its less Ironic and more Karma.

Vox tried to ruin the lives of thousands of people for purely political reasons and quash other peoples freedom of speech on line, they are an evil orgaziation and I hope the company dies.
Ben Shapiro did a Sunday special with Ezra Klein a few weeks back and even I could tell he was being a disingenuous piece of shit before I started fact-checking him. The sooner entities like Vox, Media Matters, and SPLC run out of resources to make fucking over innocent people a profitable enterprise the better.

Guys, I think reality is imitating satire

I honestly think it’s Online Education instead of simply being taught by parents’ that should be the REAL alternative to schooling, albeit the parents probably make use of the internet in the place of expensive books

Notice guys that the comments are pretty negative

Gotta make it required that they all are taught to be the same and are indoctrinated in whatever they feel like, because obviously the majority of homeschoolers are religious conservatives and possible child abusers
Authoritarians have always had a bugaboo about homeschooling. My local school district ran hit pieces on the local home school association for years until it dawned on the city that most homeschoolers are military families sick of switching schools all the damn time. Given that the local base is the city's sugar daddy the slander evaporated overnight.

I think its an honest shame that the southern unionists have mostly been forgotten by history many of them were very brave and died for their country. It would be nice if they received some statues to remember their sacerfice.
A quarter of a million southerners fought for the Union and that's not counting the populations of the Appalachians and northern Texas that revolted against the Confederates' frankly tyrannical rule. That men like General Thomas are all but forgotten is a crime.

No tweet today because the journalist took it down and locked their account but thankfully archive made sure it stayed up forever, so without further ado, Amberly Phillips of the Washington Post trying to make it look like Isopropyl alcohol is extremely expensive by cropping an image of a 55 gallon drum and just showing it's price:
Isopropyl alcohol, which the Trump administration is saying can kill the virus in 30 seconds on surfaces, for sale on Amazon right now for $2,375

Even by the low standards of journalists nowadays that's a pretty fucking bad showing. The best part though is how even her own cropped image fucks up her narrative because it shows the price per Oz.

Indeed. There were whole areas in the south that hated the Confederacy and were in constant low level revolt against them. In fact, one of my ancestors was from northern Arkansas, a hotbed of anti Confederate activity, and joined the Union army after escaping Confederate press gangs. I wish that the sacrifices of loyal southern unionists like him were remembered.

Doesn’t fit Hollywood narratives or the abridged and shorted history lessons

Honestly, this is part of why I think you guys need to replace public and even private schooling with Online Education

The information is available and unabridged and isn’t restricted to some 1 hour class session
