But there were abolitionists in the south during slavery, even.He was from Kentucky I the early 1900s of course he was. Not that it matters at all since the majority was then. Judging people by modern standards is dumb.

Ben Shapiro did a Sunday special with Ezra Klein a few weeks back and even I could tell he was being a disingenuous piece of shit before I started fact-checking him. The sooner entities like Vox, Media Matters, and SPLC run out of resources to make fucking over innocent people a profitable enterprise the better. Its less Ironic and more Karma.

It would be nice if they received some statues to remember their sacerfice.

Indeed. There were whole areas in the south that hated the Confederacy and were in constant low level revolt against them. In fact, one of my ancestors was from northern Arkansas, a hotbed of anti Confederate activity, and joined the Union army after escaping Confederate press gangs. I wish that the sacrifices of loyal southern unionists like him were remembered.A quarter of a million southerners fought for the Union and that's not counting the populations of the Appalachians and northern Texas that revolted against the Confederates' frankly tyrannical rule.
