Media/Journalism Cringe Megathread - Hot off the Presses

Just like the Intel being ignored about 9/11 that's negligent to the administration.

And the supporters clearly swept that under the table and made excuses.

I can remember that. Though 9/11 was caused by a cavalcade of American mistakes, which built upon themselves until some fanatics hijacked planes. And there was warnings years before, such as the earlier bombings...

essentially America thought no one would be that stupid.

Then forgot that the middle east prides itself on its stupidity.

When you think about it, the USA is holding back its true military destructive power

Mostly because they’re not up against an actual army

Those “stupid” guys in the Middle East are essentially guerilla fighters of a sort, they don’t necessarily have all the resources, infrastructure, discipline and training but they have the advantage that they can easily get lots of poor fools to go along with their ideals

Lose their leadership and a good portion of their current resources, bases and members? The movement will go on as always

They’ll even get middle to upper class non-muslim white dudes to join because there are so many gullible idiots looking for a purpose in life of sorts and don’t really care about people to begin with and want to follow someone

It really isn't about stupidity, none of this would have happened if the USA wasn't going balls deep in the region. If anyone is stupid, it was the USA for thinking it was a good idea...though I guess most of their allies are idiots too. Or rather most nations are idiots, because they keep on sticking the allegorical fork in the allegorical outlet just the same as the US does.

Well, at least Trump seems to realize not want to jab forks in outlets...

Sure. It will be fun to watch once it all goes down. The Anglosphere minus the UK is going to be entirely immune to this.

Or rather "fun" in the sense of the rapt awe that one has when they see something horrifying unfolding infront of them.

That's one down. Now he probably has enough money to finance all the other lawsuits.

Amusingly, because of the way our messed up legal system works, CNN caving first, will probably end up meaning they need to pay out the least; they might even get to keep the terms of their out-of-court settlement private.

The others will likely not be so lucky.

It was a means of avoiding discovery. Way too much chance of a smoking gun being in there or really embarrassing information that will inevitably be leaked.

Still, rather pragmatic of them

I wonder if the heads of CNN, who probably aren’t really so deep in WOKE stuff, are planning on trying to reign in on their guys to avoid accidentally making another meme or making themselves look retarded with something similar

That was wise of them to settle first.

That's something mentioned by a lawyer I watch on YouTube that settling is better than a drawn out lawsuit.

Cringe media rising from the Washington Post

Title says it all!

It's particularly hilarious given how aggressively egalitarian Star Wars was. Princess Leia was a real fireball, Lando Calrissian was a wonderfully charismatic character (and incredibly successful/wealthy in-setting).

Forget about race and gender, outright alien species are treated as 'just more people,' casually and easily interacted with by anyone in the Rebel Alliance or Old Republic.

The hard left really is an excellent example of how if you look for anything hard enough, you'll 'find it,' whether it's really there or not.

I'm not sure if he entirely counts here but there's not enough material to make a new thread about it and he's technically a contributor to the times and said they're on the case so without further ado, Paul Krugman ladies and gents:

Archive link because he realized he'd done goofed and deleted the tweet: Attention Required!
The responses are hilarious.

Why are most regulations bad? Isn't it mostly a case of improper or inappropriate application?
No, the sprawling mass of overreaching regulation means that every well meaning law abiding citizen commits at least one offence per day and is only getting away because the state doesn't have sufficient surveilance and enforcement apparatus yet. The only ones who can really thrive in such system are those with enough money to have the lawyer armies on their retainer. It is why corporations thrive within the law enviroment that is supposed to limit them, but only suppresses small and medium companies instead.
