The general lack of awareness is bad, but not getting that it's a joke when with the "this is maga airspace" line included is just absurd. How can you be so totally disconnected from so many people that you think that was serious?
And speaking of journalists being disconnected from reality, Taylor Lorenz, recently in this thread for playing the victim over getting mean tweets and "targeted harassment" (IE valid criticism) as a result of her work at various elite media institutions, decided to dox the person behind the LibsofTikTok twitter account, because they're "part of the national conversation" or something.

Here is a very simple method to determine the amount of gov. propaganda, the amount of civilian/military resistance towards the government, and how oppressive the country is getting.

All countries at the two extreme ends of the scale (dark blue, dark red) are shitholes or slowly turning into shitholes. The countries that are yellow and orange are generally places that aren't "that bad" and are worth living in for the long term. (Exceptions apply given the current situation and yellow is generally better than orange.)
Ironically, this matches up with the red pill, blue pill analogy.
Dark blue indicates that the place is a paradise disguised as a nightmare (NZ, nordic shitholes, EU countries), while red indicates that the country is an "loud and proud" shitholes (China, Saudiland, Iran, etc.) whose government openly abuses human rights.
Of course, this is only a general guide and does not account for the unique situation of every country. For example, Canada should probably be a darker shade of blue after recent events.

Y'know, I'm actually surprised no modern journalist has been greeted with lead or knifes yet. Not supporting wanton violence against political enemies here, just expressing surprise. These "people" are not going to do their job in good faith, so anyone discovering them on their property having a really bad reaction to their presence... I'd understand, even if I can't condone it.
