We're talking about an insane cultist mentality here; they tend to not understand humor. Or nuance. Or tact.

I keep wondering, had this been a decade ago, would they have been more sane? I mean stuff like SJWism going into overdrive feels pretty recent, around 2013 or 2014

I am surprised they're doing this
The fact that it happened at all is bad as it shows our military has been infiltrated by far left extremists
The military hates politics being implimented. They will get rid of it no matter what, be it quickly or not

“Military-Industrial Complex” while the leaders may not really be for it, there are dumbasses who’d see it as a manifestation of the evil that is the USA
For things like this, the Military Industrial Complex I love as they will keep the military large

I don’t know about you, but actively supporting the existence of an Armed Forces and keeping it strong, as well as supporting people keeping their own weapons

It kinda smacks against whatever Star Trek Federation future that guys like the Film Actors Guild envisions

From what little I know regarding the EU, the Empire wasn’t that horrible or simply put it had its pragmatisms

And the Senate that came before was already extremely corrupt and many planets weren’t even democratically voting in their representatives

This is what some readers of The Root actually believe:
(yes it's almost 5 months old, but some stupidity never fades)

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away, an evil, pumpkin-colored king named Dottard Grump ruled the land.

Evil King Grump spent most of his days lying, obstructing justice, tweeting and playing golf. At night, he traveled across the kingdom to tell more lies and play more golf, coalescing a consortium of evil supporters whose primary goal was to make the kingdom (more) racist again. Soon, it was time for the kingdom to choose a new leader. The people who opposed Evil King Grump came together to choose an opponent to defeat the evil king.
Because EKG’s followers were also stupid and racist, the king’s opponents, the White Al-Lies, knew there was only one way to beat the orange ruler—magic. So the Al-Liars called upon a small group of warriors who had been gifted with a powerful magical element called melanin. The Melanin Council hated EKG and were willing to lend their magic. Even though they didn’t trust the White Al-Lies, the Council decided to lend their support to the White Al-Lies because they knew the king must be defeated.
The Al-Liars told the Melanin Council there were only five possible choices for their next ruler.
  1. Bernie the Belligerent: Bernie was the most popular contender. He had a progressive plan and a loyal army who was willing to fight for it. There was only one problem: Bernie’s army fought everyone. They fought Amy’s army. They dragged Pete’s pretenders. They ridiculed Joe’s dummies. And, if anyone asked Bernie about it, he just yelled about corporations and Evil King Grump.
  2. Dumb Uncle Joe: Joe was not smart, but a lot of people liked him. He had previously worked for a member of the Melanin Council, so—even though he was problematic— they kinda liked him. But, they knew the non-melanated people didn’t really like Joe.
  3. Pete the Pretender: Pete was young and ambitious. He wasn’t very experienced and before he decided to oppose EKG, he had ignored the melanin community in the territory he ruled.
  4. Amy the Amiable: Her name was Amy.
  5. Mike the Old Oligarch: The Sultan of Stop and Frisk once ruled a large territory in the kingdom and he had enough gold to buy an army. However, before he switched sides to join the opposition, Mike’s mercenaries were known for terrorizing the citizens on Melanin Council.

The Melanin Council had a very tough choice. When they asked Bernie if he would condemn white supremacy and stand up for the people in the Melanin Council, he would only say that he planned to help everyone equally. Pete gave the Council a comprehensive plan, but they didn’t trust what he said because they knew what he did. They discovered Amy had imprisoned an innocent boy in their Council. They could never forget how Mike’s mercenaries had tortured them for years.
Even though they had a problem with every candidate, the Council still took their decision seriously. The Melanin Council knew they couldn’t defeat Evil King Grump on their own and they knew the White Al-Lies couldn’t beat EKG without their magic.
“Damn,” they thought. “If only there was someone who had Bernie’s progressive plan but was intentional about helping us.”
They knew there was no perfect candidate, but they wanted someone who was not Amy, smarter than Joe, more likable than Bernie, more experienced than Pete, and kinder than Mike. If they could find that, they knew they could defeat the evil king, so they went to the White Al-Lies and asked the pundits if there was anyone else.
But there wasn’t.
The end.

More along the line of the Us is being to war like sorta thing iirc

Honestly, it’s surprising how much people don’t know about Communist Dictators and their regime’s atrocities

I only knew about Pol Pot from reading Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku

images

Yeah, it’s not all translated but safe to say, the author’s kinda likes reminding us of how outright crazy and horrible the Communist leaders were

Pol Pot invited back in a bunch of intellectuals to rebuild the country, only to commit mass murder on them

Thats why i laugh at people who think the military will back the red side. The military is an institution, and the officers are drawn from the same social class of people who think unemployed truck drivers are oppressing Oprah Winfrey.

It’s getting investigated now, but yeah, I think there maybe divides within the military

and I laugh at peop-le who dont know that everyone is diffrent, but in the end no matter what you disagree on, you will take a bullet for the person next to you. and I know officers who got there through being Enlisted, my BC was a PFC at one point as well. It is more then simple black and white.
